I kind of sort of have a major Koolie/Coolie want right now.

Yep, definitely feel you. Someone needs to ship me their Rhodesian Ridgeback for like... two weeks.
But also more importantly, a Malinois. I need a temporary Mal please so I can cure the insanity.
ETA: ughh those dogs are gorgeous. Now I want to stalk Traveler/Didgie/Rue/Zinga/Zip Tie/Ned/Circus photos.

Yep, I really want one too,& I need one. I would love to meet a Koolie on here, especially zip tie.

One of the first people who was importing the Mudi into the states used to be involved in the training school I worked in right out of college. I like the size and type of the dogs a lot, but holy heck did not enjoy her dogs at all. The barking, and I would be shocked if all three I met wouldn't have bitten when startled. I think they were all related (mother and two puppies? If I remember correctly?) so maybe it was the line or the way they were handled, but it's all I can think of when I think of the breed.
Shame, because they are seriously cute dogs.
I did run into one hiking a year or two ago, and had a good time shocking the owners when I asked if it was a Mudi.

I have one big eared goon that anyone can borrow. But please keep him until he is off restricted activities because of the cut on his paw. Thanks.
Just kidding though. I will say that koolies are pretty much awesome dogs. Intense, challenging, drivey, amazing dogs. Of my six, it's the koolies that are constantly keeping me challenged as a trainer. Not just because they love to keep me on my toes by "problem solving" perfectly trained behaviors, but because I am constantly able to challenge their limitations and push them further than I ever thought possible.

Of my six, it's the koolies that are constantly keeping me challenged as a trainer. Not just because they love to keep me on my toes by "problem solving" perfectly trained behaviors, but because I am constantly able to challenge their limitations and push them further than I ever thought possible.

But I have heard Koolies are a bit ranging in their temperaments, much like mudi's. But I don't think I will ever own one because there aren't any breeders that I know of that I would want to deal with anywhere near me

There are only three places I'd get a koolie from, and I hear they're extremely consistent, which pleases me. I have a feeling the list is easy to recognize.
I agree with these. I was really into Mudi's...until I met two. They were then crossed off my list.
Koolies are still on it. But I will most likely stick with Kelpies...I've narrowed down the breed "want" to always having GSDs and then either Kelpie/Koolie...or perhaps Dutchie as my "other" sport dog.
