You know, there's no need to be rude about it everyone. Just something I did for curiosity's sake, and I'm sure others have spent money on things I would consider silly... but I certainly wouldn't tease them for it. Besides, it's not like I went broke over $75, LOL.
Wow no need to get your panties in a twist. Nobody is being rude, joking with you yes but rude? Hardly.

Sometimes its fun to just spend money on something silly for entertainment purposes alone or just be frivolous and buy something we really don't need but to me dog DNA tests are right up there with throwing your money in the trash.

I am sorry but to me paying any amount of money to have someone tell me that my dog is a mutt is right up there with me paying someone to tell me I have dark hair.

If you had fun with it, great. Just not something I would bother with.

To be fair, she didn't know when she ordered the test that it wouldn't tell her any breeds and some people just think it would be nice to know what breeds are in their dog, even though they know it's a mutt.

I'm not getting my panties in a twist, LOL, just thought the attitude was unnecessary and rude... like I said, there are plenty of thing I'd consider a waste of money, but I wouldn't make fun of somebody for spending their money as they please. Anyway, if you think it's silly then don't do it, but I personally had fun with it - even if they couldn't tell me anything.

Yes, exactly... I didn't expect to get NOTHING out of it, especially after the second test! As for why I did it, I actually thought it would help me to understand his behavior. He has some odd traits like herding and "talking," which I thought might be attributed to breed. I'm also just a curious person by nature, so why not? ;)

... people are always asking what breed he is, and it might be nice to have an answer.
My father had an unidentifiable mutt. No way to tell by looking since the dog was a mish-mash of so many different characteristics that it was impossible to pin any particular breed on him. The way some people say "Shepherd mix" or "Lab mix" or whatever ... just plain did not work with that dog, but Dad constantly got the question "So just what breed is he?"

Not wanting to bother going through the longer explanation, Dad used to say "He's a Heinz 57". (You know, as in 'Heinz 57 Varieties'?) Imagine Dad's surprise when some idiot in the park replied with "Ohhh ... that's a German breed, right?"

Dad hoped the man was kidding ... but no, he was completely serious.

LOL. I started calling Rudy a "rare Australian Pingodoodle - since he looks a bit like a Dingo, and the first test said he was part Poodle. And yes, a few people fell for it! :D Speaking of which, another reason I did the test was to prove he's not a "dangerous breed," since potential landlords when I was looking kept giving me a hard time... What do you mean he's an unknown breed? Are you just hiding the fact that he's part Pitbull/Rottie/etc? Oy vey.
