he is officially a MUTT! :D:rolleyes: I got his DNA test results yesterday, and they said he's an "unidentified breed" - which either means that he's too many breeds, aka 100% mutt, or a breed they can't test for yet. As I mentioned in my other thread, they can't test for Cattle Dog or Kelpie, so it's possible he is one (or both) of those. Oh well, I tried! I always knew Rudy was one of a kind, and now I have proof. :)

Be glad the results came back as unidentifiable instead of sending you some asinine list of breeds that your dog is completely incapable of being... like Buddy's. lol :D

I've always thought those DNA tests were kind of silly anyway. My dog is my dog, who cares what breed she is??
I don't care, I just thought it would be fun to find out... people are always asking what breed he is, and it might be nice to have an answer. But I love him no matter what his heritage is, so I am fine with calling him a mutt!

I went through this company: https://www.canineheritage.com/

The test costs $120, but I only paid about $75, since they upgraded me from the original test (which only had 39 breeds to test for). There are other companies that have more breeds, but I think they're a little more expensive. Maybe I should have tried one of those, though...

I just don't get the humor in Buddy's results. I look at him and I see Maltese---I don't know what YOUR problem is......

lol Drmom :D

Just another example of how the DNA tests don't work.

Grammy there is no way it can be done for 35 unless the company is out to loose money.

$120? To find out that your dog is a mutt?

I think I'd rather just donate the money to a shelter and invent a breed to tell people he is.
I've donated much more than $120 to shelters over the years, thanks. It was just for fun, and like I said, I only actually paid $75 - which is about what I spend at the pet store every week or two. ;)

You know, there's no need to be rude about it everyone. Just something I did for curiosity's sake, and I'm sure others have spent money on things I would consider silly... but I certainly wouldn't tease them for it. Besides, it's not like I went broke over $75, LOL.
