I found a lump on Dawn's shoulder just now. It's a hard lump and seems to be attached to the skin. I'm hoping it's just a casual lump or bump from whatever and will go away. I'm gonna be keeping track of it as time goes on.

Any tips or suggestions? I already intend to call our vet in a few hours when the office opens.

Maybe I'm over-concerned and it's nothing. But the poor girl is already epileptic, she doesn't need many other issues so my worry is high when it comes to her health.

She has been exceedingly thirsty lately, easily drinking as much as 2 gallons a day (which is not the norm). I shall also mention that to the vet.

The thirst is a huge red flag. I would go to the vet as soon as possible.

Well, crisis averted.

The vet doesn't think the lump is anything at all and told me to keep an eye on it. If it grows he'd like to do tests and figure out what's there but for now he's marked it as a fatty lump.

He attributed her drinking to the heat. I told him that it was a sudden thing but when he ran the tests for diabetes all was well. He told me if she continues to do it over the next few days to bring her back in.

Two gallons a day is a huge amount hot weather or not. Especially for a female. I would definitely go to the vet again. One possibility is Cushing's. Calcified hard lumps under the skin are one of the potential symptoms too.

I would fast your dog too (no food in the morning except as required to give meds) so that if they decide to do any tests you don't have to come back.

Good Luck

She's drinking normally again and I can't find that lump.

I wonder if it was a bug bite reaction? No idea. I'm still checking just in case I've passed over it.
