I also really want you to stop feeling guilty over this. You saved her, cared for her, and then placed her where she is safe and has the best chance of getting that forever home she cannot even imagine. You did good.

The person who put her in harm's way, who starved her and mistreated her, is the one who should feel guilt and pain--and I bet he has forgotten all about her.

I'm sorry for being so late to this thread. You have to look at it like this: What might have been her fate had you not been there and done that? She may not have been found tied to that post for days and might have suffered more and died. What if that creep had kept her? What more might he have done to her? I shudder to think what is happening to his other dog? The authorities should be charging him with animal cruelty. I'd pursue that. He should not be allowed to have dogs. You did the most you could do. You didn't dump her like his owner did. You saw to it that she was cared for and found a place where the probability of finding her just the right home is higher. She should be an only dog. I would not like to have a dog that had that kind of issue near my other dogs. It's not fair to them. It's risky and unsafe. She is on her way to being healthy and finding a suitable home where she can enjoy life without the stress of other dogs in the house hold. You did everything right and nothing wrong.
