Hi!

I was reading everywhere that is very importened to excgabge food slowly. When I got my Yorki at age 4 months (now is 6 months) his breeder said to me that he is eating Eucanuba. But when I gave him Eucanuba he didn`t eat it 2 day`s. I can see he don`t like it. I try a lots of different kibbles and the only one he likes is Royal Canin Beauty (for dogs from 10 months). I don`t know if this food is quallity, but he loves it. I didn`t gave him this kibbles becouse I didn`t know if this is good for him. So till now I was giving him Eucanuba and mix it with some canned food.
Now I ordered Eagle pack puppy, but have no idea how to swich slowly foods if he don`t want to eat Eucanuba. I was trying to mix two different kibbles before, but he always select only food he likes.

So what is your suggestion?????

Mix half and half for a week or two. If he just picks out the Royal Canin and doesn't eat the other food watch him and make sure he is not having any stomach problems. If there aren't any problems then switch fully to Royal Canin.

Ok so keep doing that (what canned food is it) and gradually change the dry to the new food, start with a bit of new food and over a few weeks increase the amount of new food untill its all new food, If you want to still feed the meat as well then thats fine

I rotate all of my dogs foods every 3 months or so. I just gradually put a little bit of the new kibble in. I have at times switched them cold turkey with no problems, except my Rottie whom I just put some dandelion root and slippery elm bark in her food and it fixed her up. :). I have never gone for any percise measurements...and when my brothers pup comes to stay she goes on what ever food I am currently feeding.

You can continue adding the canned food, I always add canned to the kibble with water. This way I know my dogs are getting extra water and I can add supplement in the food. I also add sardines every once in awhile, and canned salmon. Eagle pack is a great food, I don't know much about Royal Canin Beauty...but, I'm sure Mordy can give you some great advise. What other good quality foods are available to you? can you get Natura, Canidae, Nature's variety, Holistic Blend, Solid Gold? I would pick a couple of really good foods and switch every few months...and try to try all the different proteins as well. This month all of my dogs are getting Venison by Nature's variety with NRG dehydrated meats mixed in, then a raw meal in the evening.

unless your dog has digestive issues, there is no need for a really long switchover period. just mix a little bit more of the new food and reduce the old food over a 3-4 day period. if the dog is fine, that should be all that's needed, if you notice loose stools, slow down a bit.
