How to connect a tablet to a computer?

I am a new "worker" that can help my friend with things. She would like to ask about this: how to connect a tablet to a computer?

My friend has an Acer Aspire Switch 10. It has windows 8.1. She would like to know if it is possible to connect them so that you would see in the screen of the computer what would you be doing on the tablet. My friend says that it can't be connected directly to the screen because it has only this kind of connector:

However when she connects it nothing happens. So what should she do? Would my friend need some other kind of cable? Do you need a special software for it? My friend says that she has always only had PCs that have Windows.

My friend thinks that she would probably need some kind of drivers and she has visited the webpages of the manufacturer. However she found a list where she should have selected the right model but she couldn't find it there. She tried to find those drivers elsewhere. However she isn't sure which one of them she needs.

However this man has an iPhone. My friend would like to know if you could do the same with a Windows tablet and a Windows computer. Do you know if there was a free software that could be used for it? Could it be done with the cabel she has or should it be done in a network? Her modem gives Wi-Fi connection.

Is it a lap top? If so... I have no idea as I have a regular computer. If it's a regular computer there are 4 spots (at least on mine) where you can hook up a USB cable. Any of them should be fine. However, I have never connected my tablet to my computer.. I've never seen a reason to as I have a tablet & a computer.

Also, you don't connect it to the screen if you have a regular computer and not a lap top.. there are spots to plug in a USB cable by the tower. On the right of this tower there are 2 USB cable slots.

I'm honestly not entirely sure what you want to do - do you want to connect the tablet to a computer and be able to move around data, or you the screen mirroring thing?

A USB cable won't let you see your tablets screen on another screen - or even let you connect the screens. The cable to she has is only a micro USB to USB cable, you'll only be able to move data back and forth with it, not mirror screens. You'll probably need a VGA to HDMI adapter:

(If your tablet has a HDMI connection that is - you'll need to check that)

There are also USB to VGA adapters, if you only have a USB connection on you tablet.


If you don't want to use that or you don't have an HDMI connector on you tablet - try Airdroid. I'm not sure if it will work Windows to Windows though. Theres a download link for windows though so it might / should.

That is one option except that is actually a DVI cable:

My friend would also need this HDMI to micro HDMI cable. So my friend would need to covert DVI to HDMI and HDMI to micro HDMI. Her tablet has that connection:

Since you have an acer tablett you could try using the Acer Cloud to share files between both computers. You can download it for free as well.

You can get a VGA to micro HDMI adapter as well if thats what your tablet has - that won't let you share files though.

Airdroid seems to be similar to the reflector app... since it's free so I'd just download it and see if it's what she wants to do
