I would consider myself religious.
I don't go to church... I've gone maybe a handful of times in my entire life... but I do pray, I do believe in God, and I haven't read the entire Bible (I'll get to it someday) but I have read parts of it. But I think the most important thing is that my faith is there, and I rely pretty heavily on that faith.

And to me Religion is not Church. Church is an expression of Religion, not the otherway around.
:hail: Robert and I are very religious, and we make it a point to integrate it into our daily lifestyle. When you are struggling with addictions, mental illness, trauma, etc. it makes things so much more bearable to have the support of a higher power.

There was a point where I was very religious, but not active in church. It wasn't "wrong" to be that way, it was right for me at the time, but at this point in my life I feel like having support and supporting others spiritually and temporally is the right thing. And church is the best way for me to accomplish that, it's the purpose it was organized for.

One thing I love about my church is that I can go anywhere in the world, and it is the same. It doesn't change with small town politics, there aren't different interpretations according to who the teacher is. When we moved to Tucson, it was the same as Olympia, down to the same lesson plan being taught every Sunday. I can call my brother in Cartagena, Columbia and we can have a discussion about Sunday's lesson. I love the worldwide consistency. I love the principles being taught, and I love that everybody there is trying their hardest to learn and progress as kind and charitable people, that everybody is willing to be a friend. Without that kind of steadiness from the church and members when we moved to Tucson I would have been much worse off than I was. And they were there for me when I had my ultimate meltdown and needed help that Robert couldn't give me. It was our bishop who intervened when my MIL said "you have to get rid of your dog, because I am the landlord and I said so! Muahahhaha!" HE actually came to her and told her to her face that she had to let me keep my dog. While we would have kept Strider no matter what, his intervening saved our family a lot of tension, because she respects the bishop.

I attend Church sporadically. I don't tend to go on Sunday anymore because I go to FOHA on Sundays to volunteer. There is a 7pm or 5pm service I could attend on Saturdays, but I usually find myself hanging out with friends instead.

Of all my life, I've never missed a Sunday Mass. It's where I recharge my energy to face another week, where I come to visit my heavenly Father to thank Him for having been there and taking care of me for the last week, and ask Him for guidance for the next week. I go when it shines or rains, when I feel like going and when I don't feel like going. When planning my vacation over a weekend long, the first thing I searched for is the local Church & its Mass time, for I can't immagine not being able to attend Mass on Sunday when I can. Just like in any relationships, i think it takes not only faith, but perseverance to stay in a close relationship with the Lord! & what a better way to tell someone you truly do love Him than visiting Him every week without fail?

As for praying, I do that not only once a day, but many times a day. Praying to me is a 2-way conversation with God. Most of the time I talk, He listens, but many times I just shut up my racing thoughts & listen. In the quietness of my soul, I'm comforted by the fact that God is always there with me & for me. He never fails to answer my prayer, as I've always feel better, and stronger to face whatever I'm praying for or about - more so than when I first enter the conversation.

But be careful, going to Church every week & pray every day does NOT mean one's a good Christian, because according to Jesus, just going (like a robot) & just praying (absent-mindedly) are not enough. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?' Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers." (Mt 7:21-23)

Luckily for us we don't have to guess what Jesus meant..

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined." (Mt. 7: 24-27)

Another time, Jesus said this (Mark 4:3-32). Different parables, same meaning.

So, to answer your question, I would say I'm an average Catholic, who devotedly try to maintain a close relationship with the Lord by being mindful of her daily actions for I and the way I live my life may be the only Bible that others ever read.

And that is a huge responsibility God's entrusted in each and every Christians!

I was raised in a Christian home, but I did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I quit going to church for a long time. Four years ago, I received Jesus as my personal Savior. Now He means everything to me, and I have a very close relationship with Him. I pray always. To me praying is talking to God and listening to Him.

Now when I go through things, He is always there to help me! I am so glad that He is in my life! I try to go to church every week, to meet with fellow Believers, and to praise God. As for reading the Bible, I read it daily. It is like spritual food, because it reminds me of how much God loves me, and I believe that the Bible is God's written Word! :)

I was raised in a Baptist home. My grandfather was a Baptist preacher and we went to a Baptist church. I accepted Jesus as my savior at age 8.

Now moving here, we go to a Nondenominational Church. It's a very good church.

That sums it up pretty well :) Though, I don't read my bible everyday.

I've gone to one... I liked it alot... then the pastor moved to NJ....

IMO, the experience has been good/bad based on the pastor. For whatever reason whenever I find a good pastor I've always enjoyed being there, no mater what denomination the church was. The people that make up the church are important too... but the biggie for me was always who was teaching.

I go to a nondenominational church, and it is great. There is alot of praise and worship. The people that attend come from many different denominations. I think that it is good, because we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and I believe that God wants all His children to be able to worship Him together. After all, we are all members of the Body of Christ, and should not be divided. :)

I went to Church weekly until we started a family . Tom's only day off was Sunday and I decided that family time was more important . My Minister agreed with me . I am quite pious , and now read only parts of the Bible I want to " check on " . I wish that every town had a quiet Chapel just to go and reflect . It's too bad that Church doors are locked today .

I know and they aren't even opened all day Sunday either.
