How often do you walk your dogs?

I was talking to a friend today, and she thought it was weird that I walk my dogs almost everyday - she said her dog is lucky if he gets a walk once a week.

So, how often do you walk/exercise your dogs?

Thats funny because i just took Riley for a walk at the park today. We put less then 1x/week. It totally depends on the weather. During the warmer months it is almost every day.

I walk them everyday as long as the weather is bearable - when it's not, though, I try to do lots of inside playtime (we have a huge, furnished-but-empty basement).

I voted less than once a week, because never really doesn't fit either.

Chloe basically never goes for walks. She spazzes out the ENTIRE time. Any house that she thinks has a dog that will bark at her causes her to go into a anxiety stricken frenzy and she is impossible. Add that to the fact that my **** neighbors let their stupid piece of **** dogs run loose and I can't even walk Chloe down our lane to get to the road without having them jump us. I started biking with her over the summer (went during the day when the neighbor's weren't home...) and we both loved it, but I'm not biking with her again until I get her hind leg checked out. And that may be awhile, considering I have no cash.
If she starts getting antsy, I just put her on the invisible fence and we play fetch/run around like loonies in our 3 acre yard.

Rose doesn't go on walks, either. She's 12 years old and has free run of 10+ acres - she exercises herself. Although she does LOVE to go for walks. I kind of feel bad about not walking her, but again...stupid piece of **** neighbor dogs. I've even had them charge at us when we are IN OUR YARD (and they are crossing OUR FIELD to get to OUR YARD) just because I'm out playing with the dogs in the yard. If that becomes a more frequent problem over the summer when we are outside more often, I'm browbeating my parents to say something to the neighbors even if they don't want to **** them off.

My eight year old dog I try to walk 3-4 times a week, my youngest dog I don't walk that often (maybe once a week if that) because we do a lot of training for agility and obedience and I'd rather use her energy that way.

Exercise? Daily be it tug, flirtpole, dog park, bike ride or romp in a field.

But, an actual walk on leash very rarely in the winter since we have no sidewalks not covered in snow. During the summer maybe a few times a week but I usually do off leash stuff or biking rather than a walk.

I try to walk him twice a day, but due to all this snow it's more like a couple times a week. The sidewalks are still icy & the snow mounds are horrendous.

He has a yard, but he likes his walks.

Every day

At least once a day, and then the other times are just 10 minute walks around the block to go to the bathroom. The trail right next to the house is gorgeous, and they keep the snow off it.

In the winter Sam goes for two short walks every day, just around the block, because I hate being outside in the cold and so does he.

When it's warmer (like 50+) we'll go for those two short walks and another hour or so at the dog park in the afternoon, which takes twenty minutes to get to by foot.

Were starting foundation agility in April, so once we get into that more he'll probably get walked a little bit less, since he'll be using all his energy in that.

I was going to put everyday... sometimes even twice a day. Because that's what I always shoot for.
But I wanted to be really honest... Sometimes the weather is too bad, or I am too sick. Or, if we (me and the dogs) are really really active Saturday we may stay at home and watch movies Sunday So, I voted for 4-5 times a week.

In the winter 2-3 times a week is accurate, it's impossible to get her out and active when it's cold out. Today is one of those days where she NEEDS a walk, but doesn't want to go outside. Very frustrating.

But in good weather she gets a walk every day guaranteed, occasionally twice a day.

I live on a small farm. I took The Pudgy Dog (Dekka) and The Problem (Kat) for a walk today, but thats not the norm. My guys have their own personal dog park of a yard and get to run around the farm every now and then. And there is agility and swimming in the summer. But nothing regular.

But my dogs stay super active.

Totally depends on the weather. Spring and fall are when we get in frequent walks; summer can be hit or miss, and in the winter they're definitely not frequent.

As long as it's nice out, I try to get in a daily walk. But walks are a really pathetic form of exercise for Juno, so I don't feel bad if we go forever without taking a walk.

5 days a week right now. Sometimes only 4. Very rarely only 3 days a week.

I am dogsitter but I am a daily dog walker for 3 dogs in the same neighborhood right now. So I bring Jackson with me, with their owners permission, so he gets between 1 hour-2 hour walk per day depending on weather.

I say 3-5 because some days it just doesn't work out for me to bring Jackson, if for some reason I am running errands on a particular day and don't have time to bring Jackson back home after walking, or if I get a late start and can't make it to class on time.

When I'm home we go once a day. He needs a walk, and I LOVE to walk. I actually like to walk because there is a chance we'll bump into another dog and for some reason I cannot wait to let Tucker interact with dogs, it makes me soooo happy to see that. In the summer it'll likely be two a day plus trips to the park a few times a week assuming he doesn't hate the park due to the children there.
Unfortunately when I'm gone he's lucky if he gets a walk once a week. Then they complain because he destroys stuff. The dog is high energy, he needs to do more than play tug here and there.
However the one walk, plus inside play isn't really enough, he does best if he gets to really run. So fetch on his long leash outside is good. or taking him for walks on his long leash so he can run while I walk. It kills me how under-exercised he is when I'm gone. Then I feel bad because I come home and he gets used to walks which I think turns him into a demon when I leave because he wants to play and walk around the neighborhood and instead he has to sit in the house while everyone's on their laptops. So then he eats stuff.

i almost never walk the dogs. when steve was injured and had to be walked multiple times a day (short amounts) for weeks on end i thought i was going to go insane. i find it horribly boring mixed with horribly stressful because of all the loose dog issues in my neighborhood.

occasionally i'll take him hiking, but most of his exercise comes from flirt pole, ball, frisbee, being a dog, and training.

the bulldogs don't get a whole lot of exercise anymore. they're lazy slugs, especially mushroom. they roughhouse a little bit, play tug a little bit, and maybe chase the flirt pole a little bit, but not a whole lot more. mostly they wander around the yard and graze on greenery and rabbit poop when we're out.

For actual exercise, thats very true. They both get one on one play time with me, training session, play time with each other.

For walks only, I try to walk them everyday, due to loose dogs I only walk one at a time(easier to protect just one dog) Sometimes if its super cold, the walk doesnt happen. I will usually walk 1-3 miles.

Right now they're not getting walked at all. I don't like walking them on the sand/salt as it really affects their paws, plus if I slip on the ice my back will be thrown out and I'm done for.

But in the non-snowy/icy weather I try to walk them everyday, but it usually ends up being 4 or 5 times a week.
