Wow, that is way too much, if you check with your vet a puppy should not get fed more then 2 times a day. After heshe is fully grown (1 year), depending on size of dog can do 1 or twice a day. Follow the instructions on the dog food. Doing what you are doing will make the dog poop way too much and cause overweight which is not good.

I used to feed my dog twice a day, but realized she seems to be hungrier later in the day. So now in the morning I give her a small meal to start. Late morning around 11 or 12 I give her a normal sized meal, then again at dinner time. I think dogs are like people and their hunger is is unique to them. I'm also not a breakfast person, so maybe she's like me. LOL

5 times? That’s a lot. I assume you’re new with this. It’s a hit and trial thing if it eats all the 5 times properly then its good. It also depends on the age of your puppy - vets say 6-4 weeks old should be fed 4 times a day; 3- 6 months old 3 times and beyond that 2 times. If you’re confused, consult a vet, that’s a better way, I guess.

Dogs should eat at least two meals each day, about 12 hours apart. But a breakfast, lunch, and dinner schedule is an equally great option. If more than 12 hours elapse between meals, the stomach can become hyper acidic causing nausea.

At least two meals each day, spaced around 12 hours apart, are recommended for dogs. A timetable that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner is also a fantastic choice. If you go more than 12 hours without eating, your stomach may become overly acidic, which will make you feel sick.

Smaller, more request meals are recommended for dogs who are of breeds that are predisposed to bloat.

Puppies 3 times a day, adults 1 or 2 times a day. For tiny breeds it's been recommended 2 meals a day that are equal to one meal.

I feed 5 times a day, how many time do you feed your pup?
Five times a day??? How do you do that? I only feed my dog twice a day; once in the morning and once at night because I used to work during the day time. I would not want them to get used to eating at noon and then not be able to do that anymore coz I work. Anyway, this is fascinating!

If possible, puppies should be fed three times a day from weaning to four to six months of age. After six months, feeding twice a day is fine. I also feed my dog 3 to 4 times a day and feed him again when he is hungry

I've just read an article that claims if you only feed your dog once a day they are healthier and live longer. My Parsons terrier only wanted to be fed once a day, some days he didn't eat at all, I used to worry over him but he was 16 when he passed. Both Suzie and Belle were fed twice a day and Suzie was always pestering for food but I kept a close eye on her because of her heart condition. Luckily she was naturally a slim dog. Belle sometimes appeared overweight but I cut her food down and upped her exercise. I've been reading about miniature poodles and they seem to be picky eaters. Just wondering is it's down to breed or personality.
