How many dogs are you legally allowed to have where you live?

Where I live its the greater van area. We are allowed two legally and you can apply for a kennel liciense if you want more but you have to obey the rules for one. Anyways, I respect it. I only have one dog and don't have an interest in owning more than two.

3 dog limit here. My parents have 5, so some don't follow the rules. Unless they are causing issues and someone complains, usually nothing is done.
I personally don't want over 3, and when my little old man does pass on [which hopefully isn't any time soon
]...I will not be getting another. I'm pretty content with 1-2ish. I own my home, so couldn't answer on renting or such. I do know we have some BSL restrictions, but I know little to nothing on the kennel laws outside that.

No limit. You can license them individually, or if you have over a certain number (10, I think?), you can apply for a kennel license, which then saves you money. But then you need to abide by the rules for kennels, including allowing inspections and such. The people (well, person) I know with more just licenses all her dogs individually to avoid the other regulations.
My condo association only allows two pets total, and I abide by it. No desire to own another pet right now anyway! I could see looking for a third when Meg is 100% retired and Gusto is at the level Meg is at now - but that's a lot of years down the line, and I don't want to live here forever anyway.

We are allowed 4 dogs/cats in my town per house, I am pretty sure. I was trying to look it up on the city website recently but it was hard to find. I think it was 4 though.
So obviously I am in compliance and I don't ever see myself with more than 4 dogs ever so it's not a concern in the future.
Where I lived with my dad they didn't have a limit (outside town limits) but the HOA had a limit of 3. No one cared though that we had 6 little dogs at one point.

I think we live in the same township...and yeah, I had never heard of pet limits until we looked into moving out of state where everywhere was a gated or HOA type community. I know quite a few people with 4 or 5+ dogs. Until it becomes some kind of hoarder/neglect situation or the dogs are problematic, I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for too many pets.
Yeah, it's a lame law I am happy to over look. County limit here is 3, but you can get a kennel license for any more. Not something I've chosen to do at this point and likely won't unless it becomes a problem somehow.I thought living in the suburbs would make it an issue, but my dogs don't cause a ruckus, our direct next door neighbors are dog owners/lovers/have more than 3, and there are several houses in the neighborhood with 4 or 5 dogs. Over all a pretty dog friendly neighborhood.
