Just curious. Feist is such a light sleeper, even at night. If I twitch she is awake and up and ready to go. Wesley on the other hand, sleeps like the dead. What about your guys? :)

Journey: Heavy until I move. Anything else can be going on around her, people can be coming and going, but she somehow always knows if I move or leave haha. She tries hard to make sure I am never out of sight. Sometimes I wish she'd just stay put and relax, but no matter what, she just has to follow and then goes back to sleep in whichever room she followed me to or outside the door. She's not neurotic about it (the Dobes were), so I don't put much effort into telling her to wait for me.

Dance: Normal I'd say. She opens her eyes to check things out now and then, but then goes right back to sleep. She's content to sleep through us getting up and leaving much of the time, but if I'm gone a while, then she'll eventually make her way to me.

Keira and Ripley: They're both pretty heavy sleepers during the day. Similar to Dance, but even less concerned about where we go and what we're doing. When they were younger they were obsessive about following us, but got told enough times not to bother coming (cause it was unnecessary) so now they don't care. They, like Dance, will come find us if we've been gone a little bit longer than they feel is right.

There are dogs that don't twitch awake if you move a millimeter? :p

The only time Mia sleeps heavily is when she's on my pillow and I want my pillow back. Somehow a 8 lb dog can take up 90% of the bed.... And she's a grouch if you try to move her. I'm pretty sure she's not REALLY asleep though. Just stubborn and doesn't want to give me her spot. I've actually picked up the covers and moved her before. :p Oh the benefits of tiny dogs.

But in the mornings and such I can't even sit halfway up before they've both jumped off the bed and are barking and doing donuts and are all excited that it is wake up time. Then they go potty and typically go back to sleep on the couch so I'm not sure why they get so excited????

They do not sleep through any of my household activity at all. If I get up, they are up and following me. And neither sleeps at all at trials.

Cobain sleeps fairly lightly. He does dream pretty intensely, but something as little as whispering the word "squirrel" and he's wide awake ready to go.

Rigby is a deep sleeper. I've moved her around, played with her feet and touched her mouth while she's asleep and I barely get a flinch. She's gone over 8 hours without moving during the night.
Though the slightest rustle of a chip bag will have her up.

Oz and Ruby are pretty "normal" sleepers I'd think.

Meg is a great sleeper, and has been as long as I have had her. I can wake up in the morning, turn on the TV, lay in bed for an hour, check my phone - she's still asleep at the bottom of the bed. As soon as I get up and ask if she wants breakfast, she's ready to go, but she used to lay there until as late as 10 am if I did (that was BG - before Gusto).

Gusto has learned to be a better sleeper. He used to react, not to my alarm going off, but to the nearly silent click the alarm makes before it goes off. He'd be on my face instantly. If I got up to pee in the night, he was up and wondering where I was going and could he please come too? He now sleeps better, although never late. I can get up during the night, and as long as I close the door behind me, he'll stay in bed. He wakes me up early if my alarm clock doesn't go off (I was stunned to sleep to 7:15 a few weekends ago; it is possibly the first time I've slept past 7 am since I've had him), but he will just cuddle for a bit and then curl up and sleep again if I turn on the TV. If I wake up before him, he'll stay sleeping as long as I stay in bed.

Mine will let me sleep in though for a little while on the weekends. Somehow Mia knows. But if she thinks I've slept too long she starts the wake up game. It's probably bad because I think it's hilariously cute and encourage it. She jumps on me, pulls the covers off me. Jumps off the bed, then will get on the chair and LAUNCH herself straight at me. If that doesn't work then she'll do the 'I'm a sweet sweet dog' kisses and try to beg me out of bed.

Summer would sleep in forever.

Summer and Meg are the same dog in different bodies, I swear!

Gusto will wake me up early, but he just wants me to be awake. Once I'm awake (and I am not someone who can fall back asleep), he will go back under the covers, curl up, and sleep again. He's really just a jerk.

Seemingly heavy- until something happens that she is alert to. Need her to move? She's on it. Then she's back to sleeping like the dead. Someone at the door? Same thing.

She fell asleep with her head in the air, partially resting on her ribs and stayed that way for a while.
I think my dog has narcolepsy

I love when Mia falls asleep sitting up. She does the whole heavy head routine and sways back and forth. then she startles herself awake and gives the world the evil-eye. Cracks me up.

Lately she's actually lying down to sleep more so that's something...

Cynder isn't very alert to things, and when it is her bedtime, or too early in the morning, she just lays there.

Abrams has to investigate every new noise and is SO HAPPY BEST DAY EVAR! when one of us even thinks about being awake. So he sleeps in the living room. Even then, when he hears our alarm go off, he starts whining and bopping the door handle with his nose.

Well, Jackson is a heavy sleeper in the sense that he will gladly sleep in until noon if I decide to. But if I move around too much for him, he will go sleep on the floor or under the bed. lol. He gets annoyed with too much movement, or I so happen to cough and annoy him, he gets down. LOL...

My two are very light sleepers. I have no idea how it's possible when people take pictures of their sleeping dogs, mine are always up and alert with every sound.

Pretty lightly.

He is a very light sleeper during the day/in the evenings, where the slightest movement will cause him to open his eyes.
At night, he sleeps a little more deeply, but will still wake up if I am awake. If I need to use the bathroom during the night, he always drags himself out of bed to come along. But he isn't happy about it. In fact, most commonly if I get up, the first thing he will do is roll over on his back submissively. Basically "Please leave me alone I want to sleep :-(" It always makes me feel bad. But if I leave the room then he thinks he has to leave the room too, I guess.

That being said, I have seen him sleep through a car alarm (or maybe he was awake and just didn't care, but he didn't open his eyes). So I think it can depend.

At night they're completely dead and don't get up for anything. Juno and Cajun are horrible, if they fall asleep upstairs I have to literally pick them up and half carry them downstairs with me.

During the day they're light sleepers and are focused on the activity in the house.

Payton sleeps pretty lightly... if I get up to go pee, he's up. If I'm awake and pretending not to be, but I move, he's standing on top of me.

Auggie sometimes will sleep so deeply I actually freak out and think he's dead and have to seriously shake him to get him to wake up. I can poke him, push him, call his name... shake him... Auggie? AUGGIE? SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE and finally he'll be like "OMG WHAT???"

I'm not sure about Pepper because she's in her crate behind a crate cover and I sleep with earplugs in. Sometimes I can hear her in the mornings when I'm snuggling with the boys, whining and rustling around, so maybe she sleeps deeply and doesn't move the rest of the time..?

Lucy is just like Feist. One twitch and she's up. Sometimes she's grouch about it, sometimes she's not. But she's always up at the slightest movement/noise from me.

Angel... *sigh* I'm pretty sure a marching band through the bedroom wouldn't wake her up. About the only thing that will wake her up (short of shaking her awake) is a thunder storm, but I think that has more to do with her feeling the pressure change than the noise.

Baxter is just a pup and has only been with me for 3 nights but this kiddo sleeps HARD. And snores... lord does he snore. He'll wake up if you move him, but the only noise that seems to disturb him is a squeaky bathroom door. He slept through a storm last night that uprooted trees and ripped the roof off someone's garage so... yeah.

Pip, at 9, has just started to do stuff like... not wake up right away when I get home. Sadface.

The youngsters are light sleepers, but their reaction depends on how exercised they are. Sometimes they wake up and follow me with their eyes but don't actually move.

This is pretty much how my boys are. At night, they're great sleepers... they settle down and sleep for the night. They'll get up to rearrange themselves or whatever, but if I stir, they don't move. If I get up to go to the bathroom, they'll usually watch me leave the room but not get up to follow (although I also always tell them "wait here", or else they probably would follow.)

During the day, they sleep VERY lightly. All I have to do is stand up from a chair and they're awake and ready to follow.
