I really have no problem with the term owner, but then words rarely bother me. Legally, I am her owner; she is my property. She's mine to keep and take care of, and nobody else can take her from me.

In the "how we live together" sense, there is no word to describe it. She's my child - I wipe her eye boogers away, and when her feet get cold in the snow, she runs to me with her paw in the air so I can warm it between my hands. She's my best friend - we love the same activities, and get so much joy from sharing them. And she's a lot more too. There is simply no good way to describe it.

I'm in the other. Yes, legally, they are my property, but I think of them are more like best friends. Almost like my equals, but not quite.

I put parent/guardian but I think I should have put other... I deffinately do not view myself as their parent for they are not my kids but I do view myself as their alpha and thereby their guardian. I would never say that I am an equal to my dog because that mentality could go the wrong way and with the breeds I hope to get into in the future being anything less than Alpha over the dog could lead to serious disaster! heck even just with a Siberian Husky could lead to disaster.

My dogs are my kids. Yeah, flame me all those who say we shouldn't put human emotions and such on our dogs, but I do.

I take care of their every need, I excercise them, I feed them, I talk to them, I get them in trouble for doing silly things, I get angry when they do things that put themselves in danger but am still so relieved that they didn't get hurt...

BB- ROFL!

Roxy does the same thing in the winter time! Runs up, paws in the air so we can hold them and blow on them to warm them up! LMAO, Wiping eye boogers is my bf's job though, it's just something that grosses me out unless I have a tissue, he uses his hands and wipes it off on his pants!

Good poll! :D

I definately see my self as a parent/guardian. I mean, it is my job/responsibility to raise, teach (train), care for and love my dog. Much the same job as a parent of a human child. Only difference is that dogs are more pleasant to be around. :p ;)

I see myself as a guardian because my little one is a rescue I am very protective over her. She was also very ill when I got her and it took 3 weeks of intensive nursing just for her to pull through. I feel responible for her life now and will protect it at all costs.

I view myself as there guardian/parent... however legally I prefer them being my property as you have legal right over your property and is a bit more defined then the parent/guardian role for human-animal stuff.
