So we picked the dogs up from boarding at the vets today and the woman told me that after we dropped them off Holly seemed less and less interested in her food and playing. She said this morning she wouldn't eat any of her breakfast (I packed her the food she eats here and I know she eats it good at home). I just thought maybe she was sad that we were gone and she'd improve once she got home. Well she has ate a full meal as usual since getting home but her energy is not returning. She is really lathargic and just lays around, since her initial joy of seeing us agian. She won't play, even with her favorite toy. She seems really tired all the time and is always just laying. She even looks sad, or sick maybe. She is drinking normal but she is just acting off. Could she have picked something up from the vets? She had a bordatella shot a couple weeks ago and then one when she was dropped off and so did Hannah. Hannah is acting fine it's just Holly. I also noticed that earlier Holly's nose was running as well. I plan on calling her vets if she doesn't improve within the next couple of days. Could she just be tired or something?

Maybe it was the stess she was under from being away from her family? It has just wore her out.

Do they have play times at all for the dogs? She may have just wore herself out. And the stress of boarding can get to puppies easier than some adults. Keep an eye on her the next couple of days and see what she does. She should perk back up pretty soon.

They don't really have play time at the vets. They are taken outside with the kennel helpers and they will walk them around the back and will play with them with toys but the dogs aren't allowed to get together and play (except if they live together like Hannah and Holly. I guess she's just worrying me because she actually voluntarily walked into her crate and she doesn't seem interested in anything I hope she's better tomorrow and that a good days rest here at home will help her. I'm glad she's back with us today so she can get the attention she needs.

It could be the stress. she may even experience diarrhea if she was especially anxious.

Monitor her closely and if she gets worse, or does not improve within 48 hours, I'd see a vet.

Bacteria and disease can run rampant in a kennel, and I personally think the ones at a vet are the worst, but, it is often anxiety and or them not sleeping well while boarding.

I would guess that her emotions being kennel has worn her out .I picture vet kenneling being in a small cage without a run , I may be wrong . I personally like a good boarding kennel . Yes, vets will kennel , but most of their facilities are for dogs recovering from surgery . She'll snap out of it !

I'll keep watch on her especially good for the next week. She doesn't have diarrhea at all in the least bit and she has gone 2 times today since coming home.

Grammy, I know they are outside in the outdoor runs for most the day while people are there but there are no runs that connect them from inside to the outside. I wish I could have sent them to a doggy spa while we were gone but with Hannah acting how she does to people and it being worse when she's anxious we didn't think it'd be a good idea. Fingers crossed she'll be better tomorrow. I hope it's nothing that Hannah could catch :(, if it is something.

My dog used to sleep for an entire week after being boarded. I think with all the dogs barking and stress they never get any good sleep while being boarded. Environment change and stress can really wear them out!

I think I miss the Holly of yesterday!

Well Holly is definetely feeling 100% today. She is really making up for being so tired yesterday too. I took her for an hour walk this morning (instead of just half an hour) because she just wanted to keep walking. She is now pestering Hannah to no end and I think Hannah really misses the Holly she was yesterday, too. I do notice though she has changed since coming home. She lost her puppy bark. She was barking today and she has a really deep adult bark to her now.

I think it's hilarious when they get their "big kid" bark going...my friend's puppy got his in a couple of months ago and we tease him about it all the time, because he's still pretty slight in his structure.

I'm glad to hear Holly is back to her normal self. Quiet time is nice, but we worry when they're not themselves.

Yup she is definetely feeling better. She got a bath today and was feeling good enough to resist the blow dryer when I was using it. The vets gave her a bath the day we were suppose to pick her up but she had gotten dirty before we picked her up and the shampoo they used on her wasn't very good to her coat and she was itchy so I gave them both a bath and just to be sure they'll be getting a flea treatment in a couple days too.
