I'm picking up the little dude in a few weeks and I'm hoping to agree on a name by then. I've gotten a few options to consider, but open to more suggestions.

I know everyone seems to want me to name him Han Xolo lol. I just would end up calling him Han for short and I don't like Han that much. So as epic of a suggestion as it is, I don't know that I want to name him that.

My boss thinks I should name him Kokopelli (coke-ah-pell-ee) and call him Koka (coke-ah) for short. I used to collect Kokopelli stuff when I was younger. Since our plans to move to NM sadly aren't happening now, my boss thought it might be a way to have a little "New Mexico" here by naming him Kokopelli. My only issue with the name is that I tend to like 2 syllable names. All of my other animals have 2 syllable names (Cricket, Bamm Bamm, Joey, Whiskey, Cyra). I also don't want people to start calling him coco and the shortened version is very close to coco. I hate the bird at my work and his name is coco... just sayin'

Another name I'm interested in is Itztli. It's pronounced Its-lee or can also be pronounced eets-lee. It's an aztec word and it means Obsidian. A lot of xolos have aztec names though... kind of a thing I've noticed in the breed. I know there are a couple other Xolos out there with this name... but it's still unique enough in this area due to the lack of Xolo dogs that it would work and it's 2 syllables.

I had thought about Pirate, but my husband vetoed that. My husband likes Remington, but I said meh to that. We can't agree haha. Ultimately he will be training to be my service dog so he is technically my dog, but I still want it to be a name that my husband is ok with.

Ideas? Any that you like in particular???

I've already posted photos of him, but just to jog your memory here he is. Standard size coated boy. His personality so far... he's very observant, focused, attentive. He's playful and super smart. Escape artist. Escaped the pen while I was there and not his first time. He's a strong thinker and problem solver. He seems to be pretty confident. No fear, but still a fairly chill little guy.

He's cute! Way before your time and too many syllables but the first name that popped into my head was Napoleon Xolo (google The Man From UNCLE tv series). Could call him Leon for short...

Not sure if they would work but my favorite aztec names if you went that route are Quilaztli, (quill-as-tee-lee) maybe Quill for short? Its actually a Mexican God of creation found in Aztec history/lore.
The other is Tenoch. It comes from the name of Mexico City before the Spanish conquered, Tenochtitlan. Tee for short?
Good luck naming this adorable guy, he sounds like a truely awesome puppy.

Thank you so much for the suggestions so far :)

Did Han get nixed? I'm pretty sure that needs to happen.
HAHAHA!!!! Ya I love it, but feel like I would eventually get annoyed calling him Han or Han Xolo. Han Xolo is hilarious, but Han by itself I don't really like all that much. So sadly it was canned.

Here's the video I posted on the FB Chaz group... for you know... further inspiration haha.

Just kidding.

I actually really like Koka, I think it sounds totally different than coco - but maybe it's a regional/accent thing? How about Zolin ? Names are always hard for me - I really just wanted to post and say he's cute! Good luck!

Then I am going to get a Xolo someday JUST so I can name it Han!

(I am really excited to see this kid grow, since I know next to nothing about the breed, and really do like the look of the coated guys)

At this point I don't even try to name them until I have them in hand. I have a short list, and even then I have to change my mind. Just ask Token (Gambit), Shaman (Gimmick), and Siobhan (Cheshire RIP). I can never make up my mind until I've had them living with me a while. I narrowed the new kittens name down to 5, but I'm not going any further then that.
