We know your stand. Stop the personal bashing before it even starts. If you want to communicate with Rebekah about her breeding program do so via private messages.

The purpose of my first post was directed towards her explanation of breeding to a dog with excellent elbows, nothing else. Nothing personal and I do not wish to communicate privately. I am sorry you think that is bashing.

I am sorry I misunderstood your intentions. I am honestly very glad you had no intentions of turning this into a bashing-fest.

Now... let's carry on with rottie puppy talk. ;)

I don't care what she does at this point, I just want her to answer my HONEST question! I am trying to actually LEARN.

And even if she doesn't want to answer here in public, she can gladly PM me and it will never be brought up again by me!
red said at the beginning that she didnt want to discuss the elbow thing in this thread, so wouldnt it be nicer to respect her wishes and learn in a thread of your own, instead of taking someones thread tht was meant to be for congratulations and happy thoughts,

I see no reason to not answer Lizmo's questions, especially if you're all about honesty, Red. She's just learning and definitely not coming from where J's is coming from, which has been beaten to death on the forum by her doing already.

Red, you've always been good about educating people on the forum, please don't stop because one or two people have a beef against you and your accomplishments.

I also don't appreciate YOUR public beratement.

As I said, this has been discussed here MORE THAN ONCE.

Please stop hijacking and ruining my HAPPY THREAD if you don't mind. I have never, nor will I ever, refuse to answer about anything regarding my dogs.

If one wants the entire discussions, just do a search on my thread, or DJD1, and you will find it.

Just because people want to rant about my choices in this breeding does not mean I am going to have a 10 page discussion about it on my this announcement thread.

What I WILL say, and this is my FINAL WORD on this subject:

My bitch is OVC normal elbows.
The stud dog has produced five offspring with OFA Normal elbows.
The stud dog has an OFA normal elbow full sister.
The sire's dam has normal elbows, as does HER sire, and HIS dam.
The sire of the sire is a very closely bred dog, and the elbow production record on him is good.

None of these puppies are for sale. Just announcing something that I've waited for for many many years, and having a great time with those who are also sharing in my joy and excitement.

thank you, so do I.

I'm about done sharing anything else about it here, since apparently it's ok for everyone out there to bash me and hijack and ruin my thread.

I have better things to do than defend my choice of a BIS BISS stud dog with a CHIC number.....

;) :)

J'sCrew...I don't know what your experience or education is in breeding matters. I don't know all there is to know, to be sure. But one thing I have learned is that no breeder can breed for perfect everything. There is NO SUCH THING. No dog is perfect in every way. Sometimes, something's gotta give. Even with the most stringent criteria, because purebred dogs come from a small gene pool, there is STILL something which can cause defects EVEN WHEN all the health issues appear normal. It's called, I believe, genetic drift. It's something that happens exclusively because dogs are related, even if distantly and has nothing to do with breeding dogs who are affected with some defect. It's the genetic drift in and of itself which causes defects and mutations. You and I both would have to learn more about genetics to understand this better. But biologists Ray and Lorna Coppinger describe some of this in their book.

Back to the situation here....no breeder can have a dog that is perfect in every way. One may have great elbows and all the diseases check out fine, but the dog has a temperament problem. Or a dog has a great temperament and great conformation, good health except for one thing.

Responsible breeders take the WHOLE picture into account and strive to improve on the last generation. That's all they can do. Even when diseases or defects don't show up in the parents, a gene can present itself from ancestors. Health testing is good, but it's not the end all. There's a lot more to consider.

That said, I hope you'll drop it.

Red...beautiful and impressive dogs, both of them. Good luck...can't wait to see puppies!

Now I hope Penny hurries up and comes in! I want to hear how everything goes, especially the Whelpwhise, before I breed my litter.

Good luck with everything. Both dogs are fabulous.

Rebekah,
Please don't let the few negative opinions rain on your parade. It is going to be an AWESOME litter and one that will produce excellent examples of the true Rottweiler. One who can work as well as show. Great choice and please be proud of all of your and Penny's accomplishments.
