Not only have I been poorly but Gus has been in a bad way too!!! He got heatstroke after he chased off over the fields after a cat and wouldn't come back. The temperature has been constantly over 45 degrees here for the last month so it's not suprising that he got ill!! I had to call out the Vet on an emergency visit because he was wobbly and disorientated, the vet said that the extreme heat can effect the brain so it was a good job that I called him out so promptly, although he was not happy about being called out at 9pm on a Friday night!! Gus's temperature was over 39.4 degrees, which is incredibly high as he is normally around 37.7!! I was SOOOOOO frightened, I honestly thought I was going to lose him!! The vet gave him a shot and told me what I had to do, as far as cooling him down was concerned and luckily he has made a full recovery!
Very scary business indeed!!
