Greyhound-specific color genetics

Oh, we've talked about her before on Greytalk. She's got white ticking and is gorgeous. We found another dog that was called "dun" which turned out to be a chocolate brown. There were a few other really interesting colours that were brought up.

I'm interested in how stable the color is. Do they start out with spots? Do the spots increase with age? Does the dog eventually turn mostly white? Does it spot out to a certain point then stop?

This might sound weird, but my knee jerk reaction when I saw the pic was to think that it's autoimmune. No evidence whatsoever to base that on though.
