Ok so here was how it went now that i'm more awake and can type comprehendable sentences (somewhat).

In the surgery room the anesthetic had a hell og a time trying to find my veins to get the iv in. it took him 4 tries before getting one! Although after the first attempt (twice in the same spot though) i started ranting about how i hated needles regardless of the fct that i had gotten many throughout my life and i guess i must've annoyed them cause next thing i know the nurse was like here, have some laughing gas! and stuck the mask on my face. whoooo was tht a trip! i weas still very much concious so every time he tried a new spot i slurred/mumbled something along the lines of "What the hell? just jab it in and be done with it already!" Finally he got a vein and they told me it was time to sleep so they turned up the gas and i stayed awake! I was quite dopey and giggly but still awake. So they turned it up a bit more and they thought i was out cause i closed my eyes but when they started wheeling the bed into position my eyes flew open and i was like "where are we going???? to the moon?" (i have no recollection of this, they told me after). So they upped the gas even more and finally i was out! They called me "The Appaloosa" after that! LOL (for those who don't know, an appaloosa is a breed of horse and they're very tough. they're notorious for being very difficult to put under). After the surgery I kept poking my chin (and still am) cause it feels funny being frozen. My mouth was stuffed with gauze (and stil is) so talking was difficult but i managed with hmmmm and such to keep something of a conversation with the patient next to me. I THINK her name is Tina but i'm not sure...

Back at home my daddy went off to get the Tylenol 3 for me but got distracted at my uncle's place so I was sitting at home in pain wondering where he was and when he finally showed up I grabbed the pills and popped one immediately knocking me out for 2hrs.

BTW I'd like to appologize early if I say something vulgor or offensive I don't mean to at all but hey, Tylenol 3 brings out the best in us eh? LOL

Here's a beautiful picture of what I look like right now. The gauze for the bleeding and drooling (yummy), the ice pads to keep the swelling down, and the multiple band-aids from the anesthetic trying to find a vein. You can even see one of the bruises from the IV needle on my upper arm!

Wow that's rough! I had my last one about 3 weeks ago. All they did for me was the gas and novacaine, then they yanked it out! =) Tylenol 3 doesn't really do much for me though, guess I'm used to it since I've had 7 operations in my life. Have fun but don't take more than you need. =)

I'm 27 and I still need the top ones removed. I don't have any at the bottom, a dentist told me 10 years ago not to worry about the top ones because they just can't get out anyway, and another told me a year ago that I should remove them anyway. Just haven't got time to do it, I have other things in my mind, but I'm so not looking forward to do it.

Love the pic by the way!

Oh I feel so sorry for you. I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time, and I don't like needles either. They got the needle in and I kept saying "I'm not going to sleep and it hurts". I found out later that everyone in the waiting room could hear me saying this!!!! I couldn't open my mouth much so I drank shakes through with a straw! Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your condolences guys! It hurts enough with the Tylenol 3 I couldn't imagine the pain without it!!! I suddenly have very deep sympathies for OC when he got neutered, the poor thing didn't get any pain relievers!

Barb, you were allowed to drink through a straw? I'm not cause apparently the sucking may cause the clots to come out

Poor girl, you look so pitiful right now. I got mine out in 2003 a few months before I got married. I found out I was allergic to anesthesia which caused me to throw up which caused me to involuntarily spit which cause a dry socket. Do everything in your power not to get one because ti is way worse than actually getting your wisdom teeth out.

My husband got his out a few months before I did and one side of his face swelled to the size of a softball, literally. I have a picture of it somewhere, it was horrible.

Rest up, and I hope you feel better quickly!

Ugh - I remember those days - I was starving when I came out of the surgery (heck - I was starving when I went it!!! Dr's wouldn't let me eat though). Mom felt sorry for me and asked what I wanted/needed and she'd do it - no matter what. All I wanted was food and Hardee's just came out with a new chicken sandwich (old sandwich now...bacon-swiss crispy chicken sandwich I think was the name) and although I REALLY wasn't supposed to that's all I wanted so she got it anway. Took me several hours to finish it but it was the best I ever had ( I can't stand them now lol). Plus I had to go to work the next day!! Trust me - it'll get better, just try to sleep through it.

you have my deepest sympathy! i am having tremendous teeth pain today but it isn't caused by the teeth themselves..rather something is pressing on the nerves and i am about to go nuts....Aaron had a terrible time with his extractions. I tell people when they have it done..send someone to fill the script before the numbness wears off. Aaron's were impacted and grown into the jaw bone..they had to cut them away. He was swelled up so bad and bruised too. I got him home and the numbness wore off before i got back with the script. It was bad.

Poor grrrrl! I've still got all four of mine. My dentist told me I could keep them if I wanted or have them out as they were excrutiating when they were coming in, but warned me if I had them taken out to have all four done at once as I'd never go back if I only did two at a time, lol!

OUCH. I'm so sorry for you. i remember when I had mine out. WOW. All four of mine were impacted and I had bruising from my cheeks all the way down my neck. Do you like mashed potatoes? my mom made me a huge batch of those when I had mine out and drove an hour to bring them to me so that I would have SOMETHING to eat lol. Oh and pudding is good too haha.
