Hi to all - I have been looking for some info to help me with our 8 month old Goldendoodle and found this forum. Have found some interesting and useful info already. Any other Goldendoodle owners out there? I believe this is by far the smartest, sweetest dog we've ever owned!

Welcome to the forum. I have the same mix (it isn't a breed) Molly and she is wonderful. She will be 2 in June and I have never had her clipped so she requires daily grooming to keep her tidy. Do you plan on keeping Apollo clipped?

I do think Apollo is a great name. I know a lot of nice assorted Doodles. Some of them are really cute!

Hi and welcome to the forum! We have lots of mixed breed dogs on the forum and I think there are a few that are golden/poodle mixes, the rescue I volunteer for has what we think is a Golden/Poodle mix, it's hard to be sure though since when you mix two purebreds you can come out with so many variations between the two breeds in both looks and temperament. I'd love to see pictures of Apollo!

Wow, thanks guys! Learning more and more....like I didn't know Goldendoodles were not a breed but a mix. I knew they couldn't be AKC registered but I keep seeing them referenced as a "designer breed" - which sounds stuffy to me, anyway. He's as far from stuffy as you could get (especially when he's covered in mud, my little doodle). Maxy, if you click on my signature link you can see my pics. I'm trying to get better pics but every time I bring out the camera he gets right underfoot so I just get a giant pic of the top of his head. Appreciate all the welcome notes. We haven't had a dog in years and never one so big and I have a feeling this forum will be a big help.

Sincerely,

OMG, I just saw the pony cut! Had to repost, I'm laughing so hard!! I can't quite see doing that to Apollo (maybe Halloween?). And Island Dog, I don't want to keep him clipped but I'm thinking that because we're in Arizona I really should keep him a bit short in the summer but I'll let it grow over the colder months. Only problem is that everything sticks to his coat. Walk by a bush, bam, covered in little pieces of green leaves. And his chin and the hair over his eyes seem to grow pretty fast so I try to keep that trimmed.

He's very cute! Goldendoodles are, to me, one of the more visually appealing mixes. Not necessarily hypoallerginic though... some are, some aren't... just like all mixed breed dogs! :)

Glad you're sticking around, this is a great forum! Welcome!

Isn't that a hoot !! Thanks for finding it !! There was also a black one somewhere with a red halter and saddle . Sojo , I've had Goldens for over 40 years and love the breed ! When I lost my Chip , I could stand it and found my Ollie in Petfinder . He was listed as Golden/poodle mix , but I think he's Golden/Chessie . Completely a Golden personality . Agree Sizzle ! Great big teddy bears !

Lots of breeds aren't AKC registered.. but are still breeds. Designer breeds is just a moniker to get more money out of people. If you cross two dogs you don't get a new breed, just a mutt (not that there is anything wrong with mutts ;))

Apollo is a great name. I love good names!

Marketing, marketing, marketing I suppose. Well, he can be a mutt, won't matter to me. He's still my baby! :) Now going off to Google for more pony pics. I think those are a riot!
