For lips, I dont know the ingredients of what you are using or have tried but avoid ones with peppermint oil. Try some that are lanolin based. Are you putting coconut oil on them when you do your wash? If so I would stop as coconut oil make be exacerbating them drying out.

I feel like such a moron for having dismissed the oil cleansing method for skin care for so long. I'm about a week into washing my face with coconut and tea tree oil and after the initial couple days of grossness, my skin is to ****ing die for. As a greaseball, the idea behind washing my already oily face with more oil seemed ridiculous, but holy crap I'm glad to trade a million little bottles of product for two little jars of oil!

Now if only something like this would work for my hair. I've done no poo, with gross results even after over a month. Can't seem to get away from some sort of daily cleansing, even if it's a light application of conditioner and a super long hot water rinse. I sweat too much at work to not somehow exfoliate my scalp when I shower!

You can scritch your scalp under hot water on its own to exfoliate , or you can use baking soda with an ACV rinse (AFTERWARDS) to clean without stripping. The baking soda is the wrong PH, but a great cleanser, so I recommend the ACV rinse right before getting out of the shower.

Coconut oil might actually make lips more chapped?! Why is this? I keep reading all over the internet that it'll act to get rid of chapped lips. Is this wrong?

Its not that it makes them more chapped necessarily but coconut oil, even just as an oil not made into soap, is a pretty good cleanser. LIke when you wash your face with it, it can work too well for dry skin. I have pretty oily skin, coconut oil works great to wash and moisturize my face with during the summer, in winter I tend to add another oil as well. My feet are super dry, it does not help them at all where other oils do. My aunt with mature dry skin, coconut oil makes her face dry and tight. It may not be the coconut oil, but I would personally try another oil to see if it helps at least.

I have very dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin. I do have hormonal acne, but my main issue is clogged pores. I have used literally every product on the drugstore shelves and many higher end products too. They work briefly and then stop working.

Coconut oil is still working for me, but I have learned a few things along the way. I can only use it once a day, otherwise I don't use anything else or I use something super gentle and cleanse very deep and very long twice with nearly scalding water. It fails for me as a moisturizer too. It is possible that just massaging my skin with something that cleans out my pores, combined with the steaming is what is actually working and not the coconut oil itself. But I am not messing with it! Lol

My chapped lips turned out to be a brewing tooth infection. Antibiotics and Aquaphor and they are all better.

As for my hair, I honestly stopped CO washing. I still use coconut oil in my hair before I wash, but I went through that super hormonal gross phase and I was obsessed with feeling squeaky clean and killed it. I cut my hair again and it seems like it is growing out really well. It feels fantastic.

Implanon was removed a week ago so we will see how my natural hormones fare with all if this. I might end up switching it all up again since I don't have that crap in me anymore.

Clogged pores are my issue too. Your skin sounds like mine, except mine runs the spectrum from oily to dry. I haven't found anything that's worked to stop my skin from producing so much sebum and clogging up my pores, only frequent cleansing and a good exfoliation every few days. My skin sheds like a mother****er.

I thought it might've been diet related, maybe taking in too much animal fat or processed stuff, but the only thing I noticed when I eliminated most of the fats from my diet for a couple months was that while the oily spots got a bit better, the dry spots became unmanageable. Unfortunately for me the dry spots are often my hands/fingers and that began to cause my skin on my hands to split and bleed while I was working.

I have a lot of mental issues and severe mood swings, and getting SQUEAKY clean (castile soap, shave all the things, and then scented oils and moisturizers post-shower) seems to be one of the only things that really helps level me out.

Can I water rinse after the ACV? I sweat my tits off at work and I don't wanna smell like armpit vinegar because my hair gets damp.

Yep, I do! It's good for your skin and hair, but you don't want to smell like it when you get wet later.

I know this is more of a vent, but I figured it'd be more appropriate here....

I'm taking a class called "Issues in Women's Health"
I expected it to be a bit "girly" but seriously I was hoping for medical problems that were more prominent in women. Or what is being done to change the view of women.

All I've got out of it so far is "the media is bad because they portray unrealistic standards of women", "this is how people view the menstrual cycle", and "women are soooo suppressed."

I get it. But I went over this in the exact same detail in like grade 9 health. I need this course to graduate and it cost $$$$, I guess I'm just disappointed.

Ok, I'm stumped. I had fake nails put on at the end of July for my shower. I had pink and white powder with a gel coat on top. Due to my busy schedule, by the time I got back to the salon, she couldn't back fill them because then there would be no white. So, she ripped (yes ripped) the fake nails off, re-dremeled my real nails, put new glue and fake nails on. She did the pink powder, a gel coat in white on the tip and a clear gel coat on all.

Well, the wedding and honeymoon are over and I spent several days delicately taking them off (soaking in a gel removal solution, filing, trimming etc, until one by one they worked free. I know this probably wasn't good, but I would rather have done it myself, in a non-painful way then go back and have her rip them off.

Now my nails are awful. I've got hangnails on at least 4 nails, they are thinner than thin (so thin that the edges are slightly curled upwards). Running my hands under warm or cold water is so intense. Sometimes it feels like my nailbeds are being burned (warm water).

Anyone know of a nail product I can buy to help strengthen or thicken while they grow out?

So I think I'm right about a year doing a no-poo/no-sulfate/co wash on my hair and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the results. Even though I constantly have my hair in a pony tail, I do not have nasty broken ends anymore. My hair has grown super quickly and I can actually wear it down.

I've built up to a wash about once every 1.5 weeks or so as long as I don't mess with it too much.

Seriously happy.

I go in Thursday for my appointment for my Mirena. VERY nervous. But at the same time, it's about time! I have been waiting since early March!

Quick question for those of you who have had it; Do you think I should have a drive to and from? I only live about 20 mins, max, from the DR. Just don't know if the meds I have to take before hand, or the effects after the appointment make it unsafe to drive?

I had a copper one put in but I definitely could have driven after - my mom took me, but I felt totally fine and definitely could have driven myself.

I took misoprostal the night before, and a bunch of ibuprofen the morning of. Then the doctor used a spray anesthetic before clamping the cervix (which was AWESOME, btw, you might want to request that if your doctor doesn't do it normally - I had friends who's doctors didn't use it, and they said the clamping was the worst part). The whole process for me was pretty painless and very quick :)

I read to do this: Soak your nails in extra virgin olive oil for 10 minutes a day for a month. After the month is up, you can soak your nail in the oil twice a week. This home remedy provides strength and moisture to your nails.

They also said to keep trimming your nails until a complete new set of nails has grown out that are stronger.

I used to have the fake nails, but ever since I had them removed many many years ago, my natural nails are very sensitive to nail polish remover. I hardly wear it any more. If I put polish on, I removed with a sensitive remover and put liquid hand soap with aloe on each nail as I do the next, and then rub lots of lotion in after I'm done washing them.

I drove myself. The only meds I took were Ibuprofen though!
Don't be nervous. It's not permanent - if you don't like it, you can have it taken out. I don't really regret mine even though it didn't work out. I wish it had but it just wasn't for me.

Shay, what are they giving you? I didn't have too much discomfort from the iud, but i had a D&E before it was put in that caused excruciating cramping. I'm pretty sure my pain was from that, and not the small dilation of my cervix to put in the mirena, but I know I was really glad I had my roommate drive me there and back because the pain had me really messed up. If you're unsure, I'd see if your boyfriend can go with you.

They gave me 2 misoprostal (I believe) to take the night before. Which I am pretty sure I am okay to drive with. I am used to really bad cramps, which is a large reason why I am getting the mirena, so I think I should be good to drive. If I leave him at home and go on my own, he can keep my work going for me so that we don't both have to take time off (we work from home).

I drove myself to and from. I just took ibuprofin and had no issue
