I am very excited. I have put my name down for a miniature schnauzer puppy! It will be our first ever family dog so am looking for some advice. What set up would you recommend for the puppy at night? I was thinking a puppy pen with a big comfy bed, puppy pads or news paper. Do they have to have a crate? Will they need food and water throughout the night? Do I leave toys in the pen or will they me a distraction? What is the best thing to bring the puppy in the car in? There is so many different things and so much conflicting advice on the internet! I grew up with cats so this is all new to me!

Hey! Always have water available. Food can go either way depending on the dog and your setup. I like crating pups, but that is also up to you. They generally love their crate and being comfortable in one is a critical trait to have for the rest of their life. Be careful what toys you leave, you don't want any choking/consuming risks. Crates are good for cars as well!

Good luck!

Puppies are very restless. They may often disturb you at night with her grumblings. You are suggested to keep a bowl of water and some amount of puppy food nearby. Also, you should put a crate to restrict their path otherwise they may go anywhere in the house which may be dangerous for them.
