My poor precious coyboy. I had both boys out to go potty on Tuesday, and we were charged by a strange pit bull. It managed to pin Gambit by the car, then again on my porch when he fought free. I dragged Quiddich inside (stupid thing thought that getting involved was the totally right thing to do), got my mace and hosed the dog down. It bolted off and I was able to rescue Gambit and rush him to the vet.

Luckily, he's not injured badly. The dog had him by the throat, but it looks like it mostly got a mouthful of collar (thank God I went with the two inch wide one!) and his skin was just scraped. He has a puncture on his right front leg, and another one on his elbow which needed to be X-rayed, but no broken bones.

They sent him home with a soft cone, but it mostly made him look like a homicidal daisy, so I've been letting him leave it off when I'm watching. He seems to be in good spirits, but getting McDonalds after a vet visit tends to do that to him.

Vibes for a quick and uncomplicated recovery?

Scary, happy he wasn't seriously hurt. Every dog owners nightmare. Hope the hosing and mace keeps the dog away and you can figure out who owns it.

Sending speedy recovery vibes! Poor boy!

Have to add, 'homicidal daisy' made me spit out my soda. I hope Gambit didn't hear that! That would add insult to injury!

Poor baby. We went through a similar situation about a month ago when a JRT jumped out of the open window of a car at a stop light and attacked Ma'ii :/

Gambit is recovering extremely well. Of course he managed to unglue himseld by some rather dexterous rubbing of the leg on something or other, but he wouldn't be gambit if he didn't. I was able to locate the pit bulls owner and he paid allof gambits bills

Glad Gambit is doing well and good that you were able to find the other dog's owner and make them take responsibility. Hopefully they've learned to keep their DA dog contained properly, and they should be thankful that the person whose dog was involved isn't making their dog/breed pay with its head, so to speak.
