It's starting to snow here. :( It's not that I don't like snow because I do but I wanna garden! Lol. On topic, I usually just wait until it cools down in the evenings. Or I wear shorts and short sleeve T's and randomly hose down my legs so they're not as hot as the rest of me.

Hats help, a big lightweight floppy hat. The sun beating down on your head/shoulders makes a huge difference. Frequent breaks and cool water on your neck will help, too.

3 keys to hot weather 'survival'.

- Headgear. The lighter in weight the better.

- Light weight clothing.

- Cool but NOT cold, WATER. If your pee is any color but clear, you are not hydrated enough. A little gatorade is good every now and then but water is your friend. Frankly, any source of hydration is better than nothing. BUt you can't beat water. ****

I used to tell my troopies, when they whined about drinking so much and having to pee a lot... "Well, would you rather it be me sticking a IV in your arm?" :)

lol puck, deifnatly makes sense, i work ren fairs in the summer so its actually habit to keep myself well hydrated...nothing like 98 degees, dehydration, and a 1/2 steel bonded bodice to teach you that dehydration is NOT fun lol.

i realy should get myself a hat though, thats a very good idea.

i have a bodice chiller for faire i wounder if i could fashion something similar...
its a little metal or glass tube, you fill it with crushed ice, put the cork in and shove it in your cleavage, yay for medieval AC lol. mabe somehting similar for the back of the neck. a little plastic back wraped in cotton or something...hmmm...

i dont quite know what posessed me..we have one of those big old pop up canopy tents...well i thought the one we had was an 8 x 8, ive put up many 8 x 8 pop ups in my day and mums had this for years and never gets the chance to put it up, so i decided what the hell...got everything out and realized its a 10 x 12...
it was a pain in the tuckus to get up, but i did it!
now im chilling with a nice cold glass of water and debating dinner...
after dinner ive still got to sweep and poop scoop.
my neighbor has offered to mow the lawn tomorrow for me, and im going to see if he can help me get the table under the canopy while hes over.

then ive got all the inside cleaning up to do, but at least its cool in here lol

Stay inside in the air conditioning and wait for the garden fairies...

When the little buggers don't show up - put ice in a baggie, wrap a kerchief around it and stick it on top of your head, under a hat.
Soak another kerchief in cold water and tie it around your neck
Drink lots of water
Fight with the dog over who gets the baby pool

Oh, and FYI: Horses sweat, men perspire but women glow! (Some days I feel like 3 Mile Island...)

lol, i must be radioactive then cause im definatly glowing.
its 85 today with unusually high humidity for this time of year...
but i did manage to get all the garden stuff i wanted to finnished today, managed to sweep, poop scoop and get the patio set under the canopy tent, and much to my suprise i found the seat cusions for the set so now it actually looks like some place youd want to sit lol.
the neighbor is supposed to be comming over at some point today to run the mower around for me and that concludes my "must do in the garden while there away" list. lol.

today is in the house day, got to vacume, polish and generally straighten, they come back tomorrow :)

When you aree finished, play with the garden hose, fix yourself a lovely cool drink and find a nice spot under shade with a nice breeze (if it exists).
