First Things First-Fences

Well before I get a dog I need a yard so I have a yard 20x30 feet the dog will likley stay there when we are home and will come in at night. So I is there any fences that are easy to install. perferably no digging. I have seen those dog runs how do they work?And does any one use those hidden fences the electric ones?

Most dogs are social creatures that need more human time than inside to sleep. Many breeds will not do well alone for that amount of time. Short of xpens I can't think of anything that is no dig. Invisible fencing requires digging. It has to be buried... It also works poorly as all wildlife can come and go.. and if your dog chooses to cross it.. it can't come home without getting shocked again.

oh no no no the dog will be with be otherwise the fence will be placed beside my house and only out there when I am watching or he would be with me in my yard with out a fence. The hidden fences arent really that great are they? Well there are some used dog runs or is that what xpens are?Anyways what are reasonable prices?

the best "simple no dig" method is this stuff
GardenPlus at Lowe's: 4' x 50' Green Vinyl Coated Lawn Fencing

its a green vinyl coated welded wire, comes in a roll, and you buy posts which look like Utility Fencing at Lowe's: 4' Light-Duty Steel Fence Post

the posts have that flat peice on the bottom, it gets hammered into the ground untill thats burried and the vinyl coated fence simply hooks onto pins that are on the poles

we put poles every 4 ft. and it hold wonderfully, though pulling it tight is a 2 person job.

the great thing about this stuff is its secure, with the posts IN ground, but when it comes time to pull it up/move ect, you just pull the posts out of the grouns and your left with simply a line about 6" long and about 1/4 an inch wide, a good stamp with the foot and tada, that "hole" is gone.

while you're at lowes they sell panel sections of 6ft chainlink for building the kennel/dog runs. buy as many panels as you need for the size you want. more expensive than the cheapo wal marts, but a lot more versatile and can be easily added to if you decide it's not big enough.

You can often find nice deals on the chain link panels in classified ads or on craigslist. We got one that was 25'X10', with a metal roof, for $150 when we lived in Arizona.

foxy that stuff would work great for a small dog but most dogs would jump that fencing in a heartbeat my dogs have scaled a 6 foot fence.

My favorite customer that came to get a pup at the kennels was the one that joked about how much they paid for their pup and how much they were going to pay for their fence. WHat they said tho was GOIng to pay for. I now think your just about my most favorite of all. Doing it first is just awesome. thats just the 4ft stuff, they sell it in up to 8ft high rolls!, (though at our lowes you have to special order anything over 6ft as they dont keep it in stock)

and i dont think stating "MOST" dogs would is quite acurate, while many dogs can and even will, just because yours have doesnt mean every dog will try, 26lb cocker is fine in a 4ft fence, the cresties (who DO climb trees) also dont bother trying to jump/climb the fence (even at full run) for them a visual deterent is best, even the fosters weve had (including a boxer and a dane) never botherd trying to jump the fence...
BUT they were also never out alone for more than a few minutes.

but like i said, it comes in other heights,
the link was just a visual because noone seems to knwo what im talking about when i say green vinyle coated fencing...they think its that plastic stuff, or flimsy chicken wire, and its realy not, its actually rather sturdy and has done a fantastic job of keeping the deer out.
