Jeannine, what do you know, if anything, about the woman who is fostering him? Linda's gotten some really mixed messages from her.

First the dog hadn't been around children, then he's not good with her children; she's used an E-collar on him when he was pushing her adult Filas (STUPID, STUPID way to handle that!). Seems she's one of *those* who won't let her Filas be socialized - Linda has socialized Brutus heavily, much like I have Kharma.

Met her once, known her online for long time.
Dont believe most socialize Fila at all..
And In most case I would not put a Fila with kids unless they are raised with them.

I do not like E collars but I dont try to judge others if they have success with it.
Wont allow it to be used with my dogs.

Well she was into I think Swissies which are opposite of Fila in Temp.
So I can see a conflict.

R I think what u do is great but I have also judged Fila with FCi judges and as per standard a friendly Fila can be DQ'd.

The Hatrid they are supposed to have is still being bred into them from the country of Origin...Only breed in the World judged hands OFF.

So I can see how a Fila rescue person could have mixed feelings on placing a dog that gets into rescue for a reason if they want the dog social.

Rescue people to me as long as the dogs are treated with respect love and care are angels.

So I dont jump to judge them as quickly as I do breeders who dont rescue.

So tread lightly and keep up your work with Fila.

And I do not know Jaime this breed this line or the dog enough to make a qualified judgement on placement of this dog.
I just know he needs a home , he was bred by one breeder, brokered by another and just allowing his post resulted in a Fila attack from the miller worse then any Fila dog.

People who refuse to acknowledge the intelligence and capabilities of these dogs to LEARN to exist - and even thrive - in the modern world are going to destroy the breed.

Kharma is STILL hard. It's her nature. She just knows that she has everything covered and doesn't have to exist in a world of electric paranoia. She still distrusts 95% of the people she meets, but has the confidence and the knowledge to comfortably know if someone makes the wrong move she can completely control them.

These fools that are touting that their Filas have such hatred are just that - FOOLS. Ojeriza is NOT hatred; it's extreme distrust and wariness of people who are unknown or don't belong in a situation.

The old ways were fine on the fazendas, but they are going to get our breed on every thug-list of badass guard dogs and then we're going to end up in worse straits than the APBT - because our dogs WILL be extremely dangerous to humans.

We aren't destroying the temperament, or even softening it - we are EDUCATING our dogs.

All power to you we have "strong distrust of strangers" "must be amendable to handling"

So if FCI changes HANDS off for the Fila the perception will change.

But for novices attending a show watching 100 dogs touched and then watching the ring clear for a Fila and no touching . They make a judgement call based on presentation.

At the World show the 79 Filas were all in control yet the so called family dogs were out of control.

Why they originally put in Hands off for a Fila I dont know.
I do know that when I started Rare breed years ago they were lunging at strangers with no correction from owners.
I got to pet my First Fila 8 years ago and that dog later became a S & R dog.
I was told NOT to brag by the Fila people that i petted a Fila.

So in conclusion standards govern breeds, breeders, club and attracts the owner to such breed based on the same standard.
Which is why clubs divide on these issues.

So I cant judge someone who follows the standard harshly it is much easier to follow then to lead ..

I don't have a problem with not being required to allow a judge to be hands on.

Where I get irate is all the machismo/badass attitude "oh, no one can get near my Fila" mentality. Can't these idiots SEE where that kind of mentality leads? They aren't going to be happy until every dope dealer has to have a Fila - no doubt bred by people like Shoo-its.

It is beyond me how anyone who loves this breed can totally negate and ignore the vast intelligence and adaptability of the Fila. That, to me, violates the first principle of who makes a good Fila owner: First, you have to be smarter than the Fila

*not ranting at you, Jeannine ;) - I know YOU understand how important it is to socialize ANY guardian breed*

Rant on let it go we have them in all guardian breeds....

But I must add a breed that cant be min show hands on FCI style ( males just need to have those 2 things touched and to be close enough to a judge) brings out the miss understanding.

Ive shown some very tough dogs and they simply submit to what i tell them to.

But from a rescue point of view placing a dog that exhibits a Extreme distrust of strangers is a liability so if we expect too much from these people.
And they get sued they will stop rescueing..

In the day and age of BSl and lawsuits based on dog bites.
It makes it hard to breed any breed that guards even a Chow Chow.

Sadly your post about Karma was crossposted to a board that is intent on taking down any Fila breeder in the USA by reporting them to the IRS.\
Owned by the same breeder who SOLD this dog in need of a home.

They took your post and used your good ethics to give them something to stand on.

This is 2 breeders I know of that have completly insane people in them.
So warning dont post any more good fila stuff someone will Steal it.

If you need the link just email me dont want to advertise for backyard breeders.
