Oh, yeah, I saw she was doing the OB classes, they just weren't something I was interested in... I saw each of those, but I was more interested in the protection fundamentals series, which weren't listed anywhere any longer.

eta; If I can't do protection classes with Shade, I will likely see if work will cover some BAT classes and do those for further learning. :p

Patton will never be an IPO dog at this rate. I'm pouting, because first world problems.
Well, they do change up the classes each term, and the schedule usually isn't final until the classes are coming up, so don't read too much into what they're offering in the future. It may be that they just haven't decided which to offer yet.

Yeah, they're scheduling is always changing and even some of the most sought after classes are only offered 1-2x a year.

I would contact them and ask when the next whatever class you want to take might be scheduled again. She does take her students into account when planning the scheduling and classes that were "cancelled" have been brought back because people asked for them. :)

How much space did you need for it? It says 3 jumps, but is that 3 jumps kind of close together? Or super spread out?

I know Watson will never learn that kind of stuff in a class, so I want to try teaching it myself now that I have room.
Pretty close together mostly for the threadles and serps. Some people used more equipment than others.

It's a really really good class. I just did bronze but am very glad I did. I learned tons!

No, it wasn't the schedule for the semesters I was looking at(I know those change regularly..), but the list of schools where they list all of the options for classes they offer. They used to have a "school of IPO" option with a list of obedience, drive, and protection classes - mostly offered by Shade. Now they don't have them listed anymore, so I'm thinking they don't offer them at all? (except for those obedience IPO classes and the one drive class)

Unless I'm still missing something?

What I'm trying to say is that they don't have the School of IPO category, but are putting the classes into the other categories. Doesn't mean they aren't the same classes, it's just the organization of the list has changed. The "schools" don't really matter - they change those up all the time while keeping a lot of the classes exactly the same. It's just for organizational purposes.

I guess what I'm confused about is that there are many classes they used to offer that are not in any category- not listed under any school anywhere. Does that mean they aren't offering them anymore? They just don't seem to exist...

They only list courses offered in each term. I don't think there is any master list of all classes. The list there just means it's not offered right now, not that it won't be I the future. Many classes are only once per year.

Doesn't the "schools" tab show all of the classes they offer? I know the "schedule" tab doesn't have all of the classes they offer since it's by term. That's not what I am looking at.

Like, this session(feb 1st start), the "school of obedience" is only offering 6 classes, but they have 31 "school of obedience" classes that they cycle through.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, I dunno. I would ask Denise. I'm guessing they didn't have enough enrollment to keep that many IPO classes

I'm trying to decide what I want to take in the next term. I really like the format... but there's no way I want to take the second part of the prey drive class. I followed it religiously and it didn't really do anything for us. Plus, I've heard she's catering it more the individual in part 2 and I don't want to take it at Gold.

I'm think maybe intro to rally. Hugo can't do dog sports with repetitive jumping so Rally could be fun for us.

Ooh, I've just started working with Rook on foundation stuff for Treibball, and I see a Treibball class is about to start! I'm going to apply for a scholarship for it, since all my money is currently sunk into the three surgeries it took to get rid of Zoe's cancer and reconstruct her face.

Anyone else doing this one?

I bought the lectures for AG110! I really should've done it last term but I had zero access to jumps and I wasn't sure if it would be a good class for us. Now I almost have access to jumps (just need to fix the garden fencing and wait for the last couple inches of snow to melt). I thought I had to buy 210 and 110 at the same time, but it let me just buy 110 which is nice. I still have access to the forums for another week as well, so I'm reading through what threads I can and watching gold videos before they are gone.

Not sure if I will sign up for AG210. Looking over 110 material it's a lot of stuff we've kind of done either in class or at home, so maybe after a couple weeks we will be ready to tackle some of the stuff in 210.

Still thinking about the jumping foundations class, but I spent a lot of time working on jumping mechanics last year so I'm kind of ready to just focus on some handling and see how he handles the jumps. If he is still struggling we can sign up for the jumping class later in the term, or some other time.

I adored the Shaping class, and really learned a ton. I feel like both of us really get shaping now, so yay!

I'm taking Cooperative Canine Care this term, after seeing Finn have a meltdown the last time we went to the vet, in addition to the battles we have waged over the dremel. And I signed up at Gold! It's my first, so I'm nervous. But excited :)

Exciting! Good luck with Gold.

Watson isn't super terrible about that kind of stuff, but he's not good either. Like no biting, but he's very resistant at the vet. If only I had more monies to sign up for all of the classes!

Yeah, Finn doesn't bite, but the last time we were at the vet he had to have blood drawn, and he already didn't trust the vet after getting a fecal, so he had to be restrained and he was screaming and barking and thrashing. Super embarrassing and it made me feel really awful for him.

Last time Watson had a blood draw he yelped so loudly that another tech came running in to see what was wrong. Haha. So I feel your embarrassment.

The only probablem with taking a class is that he's generally fine with me doing things at home, and he's only bad at the vet or at the groomer (went for nails 3 times). I don't see how I could fix his issues without going over to the vet all the time. Let us know how the class goes and if it's worth it.

You're my hero for trying to work with him on it - most people don't :)

I have been wanting to take Fenzi courses for awhile! I even have a list on my phone of the courses that interest me now or for the future competition dog.

I was wondering if anyone has taken, and thoughts/recommendations for these courses:
-k9 conditioning 1 & 2
-structure and movement
-raising a performance puppy
-shaping
-IPO/high drive foundation skills
-heeling games
-FCI style heeling
-advanced FCI heelwork
-FCI Heelwork- Polishing, refining, and games
-IPO obedience sit, down, stand out of motion
-IPO obedience- Heeling

Also, can anyone explain the difference in the heeling styles of the FCI vs. IPO?

Thanks!

Haha, you sound like me! I'm keeping a list of classes I want to take with my (2017) Koolie puppy, as well as Finn. It's kind of ridiculous.

They don't offer Raising a Performance Puppy anymore. That class was combined with Performance Fundamentals, as the material in that class is appropriate for puppies and "beginner" adult dogs. I took Performance Fundamentals with Finn and really enjoyed it. The instructors were wonderful, and the material was super useful. I am really into learning foundations, so it was a very helpful class for me :)

I also took Shaping last semester. Really neat class, but I think that is one I should have taken at Gold. It is very individualized. It did help Finn and me to really understand shaping, though! Before we took the class he would just lay down and stare at me during training sessions; now he moves around and interacts with everything in the environment to try and get a click. I love it! We shaped out very first "pure shaping" behavior the other day (no luring, no "helpful" treat tosses) thanks to that class.

I haven't taken the others. I think High Drive Foundations Skills is supposed to be a lot of the same material as Performance Fundamentals, but adapted for a drivier dog who may need more help with things like impulse control than a "normal" dog :p
