Ok, I here a lot of talk of dual registering litters or people with a really crappy registry breeding with a AKC stud or female just so they can get an AKC registered dog. Is that possible or are these people just nuts? If they want an AKC registered dog instead of breeding their BYB registry dog to an AKC dog why don't they just go out and buy an AKC dog?

I'm confused at what I should be looking at, is there a certain page I need to go to? Yes lots of other countries probably think badly of the AKC but I am in the United States. I have AKC registered dogs and I have had an APRI registered dog and find that AKC is more strict than the APRI was with their registration and allowing of dogs in their registry. I would think that if an APRI male mated with a AKC registered female the puppies couldn't be registered AKC but some people I am hearing are registering the litter AKC. How could they be registered AKC though if only one parent is registered with the AKC and the AKC has no record of the male?

I assume CKC = Canadian Kennel Club.
Because they won't accept Continental Kennel Club
I know they don't accept registries from APRI. any dog can be registered with them.
And the Continental Club also recognizes and registers APRI dogs!

Yes, both have to be registered . Some dogs have both AKC and CKC registries for this reason .

^^^What is a splinter registry?

Yes, both parents have to be registered with the AKC in order for the puppy to be registered with the AKC.

both parents have to be AKC registered for the puppies to be akc registerabe, however there are some unscrupulous people out there forging AKC paperwork, and some who take paperwork form other AKC males to register a little AKC.

some AKC people do however reg their dogs with the CKC (continental) too ive heard of dual registering that way, however i dont quite know what the point of that is.

i can understand ckc (canadian) and AKC dual, but otherwise whats the point.
AKCs in bad form lately as well as theyve been a little lax, that whole petland fiasco also realy knocked them down a few bolts!

APRI is a big mill registery-I think they are like the ckc were they take a pic for proof of being purebreed and give them papers.

AKC will give you papers on just about any dog but ONLY with proof of altering. If you want papers on pups, both parents will need to be registered. Some breeders will say I'll get you the akc papers adn then just hand a already attached owner mill registery papers.

Both sire and dam must be AKC registered to register the litter with AKC. The only exception would be imported dogs from reputable foreign registries. But APRI, UniversalKC (not United), ContinentalKC (not Canadian) cannot register with AKC based upong those papers.

That's what I thought. Someone at the vet's though had an registered labrador male with a different registry other than AKC and they were looking for an AKC bitch to breed with and then they were going to dual register the litter with both the AKC and whatever the stud was registered with. I said I thought they both had to be registered with the registry in order for the puppies to be registered with AKC but they said no and they looked into it. Oh well, I tried. A few other people have said similar things though and it got me wondering.
