it is not my site... But I found it yesterday while indexing some romanian sites for my new directory. I was shocked, but yes, this it the situation in my country.

Dogs in Romania

There are very few charitable projects and we have almost no chance to survive or do something. They are killed in horrible ways, live in the streets with no one to care about them. Many have no future. Some of us tried to save them (I have 3 dogs saved, 2 are now in my house and another located in a neighbour's yard, 30 meters from my block). I wished MORE people would do this in my country, but still ... they are few ..

Sorry if I ruin your day :(

i see they are trying to install a neuter and release program. I guess it is suppose to work the way it does here with cats. Just so sad.

The problem is that such programs are designed to work, but fail. The reason: HUGE corruption. We had a lot of charitable projects, even international ones (Brigitte Bardot comes to mind) who were here and tried something. But the money went for a new villa or an expensive car for some people who missused the funds. Poeple who are trying to personally rescue and relocate dogs as I did face huge issues; we don't even have a "humane society' some place to know we can at least meet other people who are interested in getting a dog. The prices I paid for the vet were horribly high too and all neighbours are sure I am mad .. that's the "normal" reaction ..

uff ..
