Sorry, didn't know where to post this.

My brother came home one day and a dog was out the front of his house. He brought her in and called the registration number on her tag. They said her name is Bindi and called the owner to let her know Bindi was there so she could pick her up.

I was there when her owner picked her up, she said that she only recently got her from the pound. She is still a puppy, I think about 9 months old.

A couple of weeks later, one of the neighbours down the street from them found Bindi one night. He said he would take her home and look after her until the next day when he could call the number on her tag so the owner could pick her up.

Tonight, I was driving home from my parents, and Bindi was sitting on the side of the road. I stopped and she was excited, tail wagging, jumping all over me. So I brought her home and I will call the registration people and get the owner to call me so I can drop Bindi home.

My mum and brother were saying that she is always loose on the street. Mum was walking to work the other morning and she said Bindi came running up and almost bowled her over. They said she is a street dog :/ and not to worry, she will find her way home.

I don’t doubt she will find her way home, but it is poor of her owner to let her run loose on the street in the first place.

She is a really big dog, I don’t know what she is. If I didn’t know who she was, I would have kept on driving past because I would have been too scared to go near her. I am still a little scared of her. She could easily injure a kid if she jumped on them when they are walking by.

Anyway, I don’t know what to do, should I say something to the owner.

Absolutely... I would tell them that there is a great possibility she could be hit by a car, she could hurt a small child, etc. Personally, the next time, if there is a next time, I would call animal control because at least they will pick her up and call the owners. Maybe if the owners have to pay money to get her out of the shelter they will think twice about letting her run again. I don't know, hopefully someone else has a good suggestion.

Ah good idea, maybe I should take her to the animal control tommorow instead of calling the owner.

I just called animal control the other day. I was at the hospital visiting a friend and came out to get in my car and 2 dogs were running around the parking lot. Neither one of them had on collars or tags. I figured it would be best to call animal control then have them hit by a car. It just breaks my heart the way some people just don't care about their pets.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. It's gotton to the point that people in the neighbourhood are used to seeing her run around on the streets by herself and for my mum to say she's a street dog:/

Why on earth would this lady buy her from the pound if she doesn't have a good enough yard to keep her dog in. It makes no sense at all. It seems like she doesn't want Bindi anymore. I hope if that's the case Bindi finds another home with someone who can look after her properly. It's kind of sad to look at her playing with some of the toys when I get the feeling she hasn't got a stable home with someone who really cares.

She is really big, a lot bigger in person, lol freaks me out when she keeps jumping up on me. She could barely fit in my car, she sat in the passenger seat and her head hits the roof, and kept knocking the review mirror.

I took some pics before, I think she looks healthy and she is really cute.

Poor dog, she looks like a Mastiff of some sort: I wish you would do something for her/him. Take him home, just do something!

I'm thinking maybe mastiff/pitbull cross or pitbull/great dane. It is really hard to tell just how big she is. How tall is she at the shoulder?

she looks like she has great dane in her. its a guess. Just look at that beautiful face. The nerve of some people. the dog is a hazard to people running loose like that. That dog could cause someone to crash if it ran right in front of them. i know how strong my dog is when he comes running. I could hardly imagine a great dane mix. Call control. they will do something about it.

How cute!!! I bet if you take her to animal control the owners will learn their lesson. The only thing I'd be worried about would be that the owners wouldn't want to pay, and would leave her there....but maybe she'd have a chance to find an owner that would really care for her. She's gorgeous! I can definately see Pit in her, and possibly some dane. How pretty. :D

I didn't get the chance to measure as I took her to the animal shelter already.

Thanks, I took her to the animal shelter (where she was orginally from).

I know what you mean, I have never been around a dog so big with so much strength. I took her and my Beagle to a fenced in park for a couple of hours, let them run around. Every now and then she would get me in her site from a distance and bolt straight for me and jump right on top of me. Every time I saw her coming I freaked totally, she doesn't realise her own strength. I tried not to make eye contact with her from a distance just to avoid it.:lol-sign:

She could do really well with some training. I did a bit of clicker training with her, she is perfect at sit, and has the most amazing eye contact.

This is exactly what I was worried about; that no one would pick her up. I felt bad after I dropped her off at the shelter, I just hope I did the right thing.

I explained to the lady there that Bindi is always loose on the streets and she has been picked up by neighbours and delivered home on a few occasions. She said she will say something and hopefully this will be a wake up call.

I was just about to say Great Dane/Pitbull cross.

I think you did the right thing. Let's just hope the owner actually do pick her up instead of just abandoning her.

She's beautiful. Let's hope if her owners don't want her, someone else will.

Can you stay in contact with the shelter? Will they give you details as to whether the owners have been contacted and if they are going to come get her? That way, maybe you could pull her before they decide to put her down and find her a good home?

In our area, we have summer people visit, and seems like there are always a few dogs who get loose and being in a new area to them, they cant find their way home.
Thats why its SO important to have all the phone numbers on the collars.
Weve found many dogs over the years around here, and always found the owners with the help of our vet and our town who has a database and can access other towns.
Also have the dog scanned, chances are that he/she would have a chip and you can find out that way.
We found a black lab and IDd him by his chip. The owner didnt realize that he could crawl right up and over their chain link fence. I spot him near the school bus stop, and take him home, and I cussed the owner out for not having any ID on his collar. Now he has a tag with all his #s and info.
You have to get a bit angry with people who shirk their responsibility.
Like my neighbour, he is a house remodeler and was working on a house where there was a Yellow Lab in a crate all day long in their cellar. So he took him out whilst he was working on the house, and within a week, had the people talked into giving the dog to him. Everything turned out happy.
So just get involved and you will get results hopefully, or get your local dog officers involved, as we have done too, and they can confiscate the dog and find a better home for him.
