No way.. :rofl1: Dixie loves playing with the hose though. My brother's dog I swear lives for water especially swimming. :lol-sign: Ironically I got the random question is water wet? .. Haha.

Both of mine swim. They both had to be encouraged a lot in the beginning, and the tipping point for both wound up being me going in with them. Neither will dive in off something high, but will wade out until they can swim to fetch stick and such. Meg's less of a swimmer as she gets older - mostly, she likes to wade along the shore and hunt frogs.

Fable's dislike of water is slowly dwindling away, so I'm hoping that I can get her swimming this summer. The dog park I take her to is directly on the river, so she's taken a liking to wading up to her belly when we go there. And last weekend I took her into the water to the point where she couldn't touch the bottom anymore, and she started to panic a little and swam straight back to shore. I want to get her a life vest to see if that helps build her confidence in the water and so she can start enjoying swimming.

Also the last time I took her to the beach, she was absolutely TERRIFIED of the ocean. Though the last time she went to the beach was almost a year ago, so maybe when we start going again this summer she won't be as scared.

Hugo is obsessed with water and will happily swim even in situations where I think he is going to die. Just last week I swore he wasn't going to get in the lake we were walking around because the water was really rough- I apparently have no idea because he flung himself in and swam around for quite awhile. He's good at it and it wears him out quick. Excuse the horrendously loud waterfall sound if you watch the videos.

He looks a lot smaller in that second video than I've always imagined. And it must be so much fun to have a dog that enjoys the water so much!

I WISH!:(

Our shelter mutt is kind of at the point of enjoying going in the water to retrieve sticks/his toys, but only if he can still touch the ground. I'm not really surprised, he is quite insecure and still afraid of a lot of things. He only swam once, probably couple of months after we got him. We went into the river and he got super scared of being left alone and kind of slipped/half-jumped off the rock and got REALLY scared. No luck getting him to swim after that. It doesn't even help if we swim, because now he knows we are not just gonna leave him and he just sniffs on the shore and waits for us to come back.

Our shelter mutt girl has been with us for three months now, and she doesn't seem to really enjoy water. She is super courageous though and very food-obsessed and velcro so maybe we are going to be able to encourage her to go in. We'll see.

My future dog, owned exclusively by me, better enjoy water! I am dying to try dock-diving! Water obsessed dogs are just soooo cool!

If anyone has any secret tips on how to get dogs to enjoy water, please do share!

Orson? No way, no how. He used to enjoy standing in the kiddie pool and fishing for his toys, but he doesn't even do that anymore.

Crowley? YES. He loves the water any way he can get it....he even jumps in the bath tub and looks longingly at the faucet hoping to convince me when I'm in there.
