I didn't know if I should put this here or in the dog section since it's about dogs but mostly family.

I'm leaving to go to a friends wedding in a few days. Actually more like 28 hours and I"m leaving. I'm traveling over 400 miles so I'll be staying with family. I was leaving Bear here with my husband and taking the 2 pups with me. I got a call from one of my family members saying that they didn't want me to bring Dixie to their house. They said the reason was because they have an intact male. Ok, Dixie is spayed. They said that they didn't want a female there because they didn't want their teenage children exposed to dogs humping.

That just sounds so weird to me. Maybe it's just me. I'm pretty sure those kids have an understanding of certain things. It's stressful because this screws up just about my entire trip. All my plans need to be changed and I need to call everyone and let them know about it within 24 hours. Since I leave in like 28 hours.

Uhh... if they have an intact male, wouldn't the kids already know about the dog humping things, by watching him do it to people's legs and what not?

sounds like an excuse to me--I would ask them if that is really the issue--or is there something else they are concerned about? It might be too much to have that many dogs in the house?

That is kinda weird. Humping doesn't have to involve intact animals. I have a spayed female that will hump neutered males for dominance. It does sound like an excuse for some issue they aren't talking about.

I agree with it being an excuse.

Since they've told you so late, if it were me, I'd probably just say screw it and not go. Would be different if they'd said something when plans were being made.

I agree it sounds like an excuse. I just wish I would have been told months ago since they've known i was compinng back since march. a 24 hour notice doesn't give me time to do anything. So I've been scrambling all day calling everyone I had plans with to change things around some. Hopefully I can get it all worked out before I go.

lol that is funny. So they've known for months but two days before your arrival they were lying in bed and one of them suddenly sits up and says "Hunny, wait! I just realized the dogs are going to hump!" "OMG call her and tell her the dog cant come"

I mean who just thinks of this stuff? Did they really sit down and talk and say "what if the dogs hump. We dont want the kids exposed to that kind of sinful trash. bringing that into our home will just encourage premarital sex" I guess all publis parks are now out of the question.

I just dont understand who thinks of this stuff. I mean think about kids on farms who were raised breeding livestock. I think thats how a lot of kids learn the facts of life. My dad actually explained sex to my little sis using animals as an example. That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.

LMAO. Thanks for that! It made my laugh and lightened my day a little bit.

It's funny because that seems to be about what happened.
