Thoughts? I was incredibly pleased with 1 and 2, even with the plot holes and inconsistencies, and terribly disappointed in the 3rd ep.

Has anyone seen the leaked episodes? Im deliberately not watching them because spoilers

Who the hell is Missy? :rofl1:

Missy is Moffatt's newest mystery woman. He likes those. I get the feeling we won't know much about her for awhile.

Loving the new series. Moffatt's still thrilling me with his time twists and still angering me with his writing of women. I have pretty mixed reviews of him as lead writer, but I still like him more than RTD.

In Doctor Who there will always be plot holes and inconsistencies, it's part of the ride. :rofl1: I'm re-watching the series with the BF (he's a new Whovian) and it's even worse in Tennant's era, on a re-watch.

Love, love, love Capaldi. I knew I would love him the moment I heard the rumour that he was cast. So refreshing to have an older doctor again. Not that age matters as much as fitting the character (Matt Smith and Peter Davison are two of my fave doctors) but I was starting to think BBC wouldn't bother with the old guys again.

The new opening is a great combo of doing something new and throwing back to the retro openings. Most people I talk to hate it, because DIFFERENT, but perhaps they should watch how much the old openings changed.

I agree on Capaldi. LOVING the scottish accent and iunno but to me hes pretty darn hot (for an older gent!). his Doctor is a refreshing change from Smith, who was a brilliant Doctor too, but we have to have variety. each actor bringing something new to the table is what makes this franchise so great. Im really liking how Capaldi is just a little bit ruthless and more than a tiny bit of an asshole.

theories are that Missy is the Master, but since Moffat has already stated that shes the "guard of the Nethersphere", that throws that out the window. the heck is the nethersphere anyway? another theory is that shes the Valeyard, which is another thing i never got becaue i didnt watch classic Who

do we know if River is supposed to come back? I keep hoping she will! wondering when we see 'her' screwdriver (from the Library) also

I've only seen the first 2 so far but I'm on the other side, I sort of hate Capaldi. It's odd though because I was excited when I found out he got cast. BF and I agree that he's rather more sinister than we'd like. Leaving Clara in the first episode, letting the soldier die in the dalek after saying "trust me", we're not pleased. Overall, I don't like him. And that means Clara is my new favorite character in the series when I didn't much care for her with Matt Smith.

Maybe he'll grow on me!

I really like it so far! But again, there haven't been many episodes so far I haven't liked, out of all the seasons...

Maybe a bit too much of Clara and not enough of the Doctor though.

Well there have been a few more episodes, what does everyone think? Im still reeling from the last one and Clara telling the Doctor off, tho I do agree with what he did, it was still a pretty jerk way to do it :<

Any pet theories on what the "kids speaking gibberish" thing means? I feel a massive Moffat-Arc coming

Still like the new episodes. But I see them as entertainment and I don't try to overthink them, even if sometimes it's totally over the top.

Totally loved the way Clara told him off in the last episode. New Doctor is a bit of a jerk, frankly. Curious to see where it goes. I have no idea what the kids speaking gibberish thing is though... did I miss something?

the gibberish was in the Caretaker. there were a couple times when Courtney Wood said something totally gibberish in passing and Clara or whoever would go "wait what did you say?" and then the plot moved on without an answer. I think it was just Courtney, Id have to go back and check. I think mayeb there was gibberish written on a window too, that he cleaned off while being the janitor

Capaldis Doctor is a jerk, and I love it. its a nice contrast to the cuddly boy next door that Smiths Doctor was, and the Lonely God that Tennant was

Still waiting for River. do we even know if Alex has been cast for season 8?

Agree with liking Capaldi's character. The franchise needs a fresh spin, a less lovable doctor. Similar doctors existed in the past - part of the charm is that the doctor is always flawed, and the flaws are always different. And sometimes more prominent than other times.

IMHO, it's very doubtful that we will see River again. Her story opened as a teaser for the tench doctor, but she was designed for 11.

Really, really hated Clara with Matt's Doctor. She and Capaldi balance each other well. That being said, I am still not sure how I feel about Capaldi's Doctor. He's different...maybe the writers don't know how to write him yet? The plots don't seem AS GOOD as Matt's. I feel bad for Capaldi.

Now that Clara has Danny, I am starting to like her. But ssshhh. Don't tell the hubby LOL

just remember what Tennant once said, " I've taken lives. And I got worse, I got clever. Manipulated people into taking their own."

i think we are seeing that a lot with Capaldi

i torrent them

rewatching Kill The Moon and something nagging at me was clarified. i really think the Doctor DID need to pull a stunt like that, abandoning Clara. i think he did it in a really poor and patronizing way, but it did need to happen. Clara had come to rely on him too much, and literally her first reaction was not to think or engage her brain, but to immediately turn to the Doctor and say "tell me what to do", ie "fix everything" and not only cant he, he shouldnt even if he had that kind of omnipotence. the Doctor isnt a God. he doesnt have all the answers, and Clara needed a hard reminder that they are friends and partners, not a tiny human and a timelord God with a magic wand TARDIS

Well. Now that the series is over, what does everyone think? Death in Heaven left me rather disappointed. The Christmas special had better be good *annoyed

I don't understand the logic frankly. She had kids with Danny in one of the episodes. And now she doesn't? It makes no sense.

i didnt notice all of them, but supposedly one of the post-it notes at the beginning say "THREE MONTHS" so maybe she was 3 mo pregnant? and thats what that conversation was leading up to? i guess we will find out later, but it explains why clara would be leaving as the companion. cant very well be running about the universe when youre pregnant
