Help if you possibly can! My son has a 4+ yr old female Dobie, she is a beautiful black/tan with cropped ears & docked tail. He wants to give her to a GOOD home where she can run & hopefully have kids/other dogs for companionship.

If you know anyone interested that lives in WA state please let me know. She currently lives in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. I live in Skagit County & would be willing to "check out" possible homes in my area.

Also, any links to Dobie rescues would be appreciated!

Thanks for any help!

Hi Rags,

Any other information on this dog? Why is she being given up?

I would be interested in finding out more about her. I am currently in Arizona but will be within a day's driving range of your area by early July.

More info

Her name is Gretta, she's been with my son over 2 years. When he moved to Coupeville he downsized greatly in the house & yard. Gretta needs to get ALOT more exercise! He loves her (we ALL do), but he's finally realized he's not the right owner for her,she needs alot of attention & socializing.

I just adopted Rags & cannot take Gretta also (the two dogs had a great time playing when they met). She's so sweet & simply a beautiful dog. I have NEVER seen any aggressive behavior. She is NOT leashed trained. Gretta needs training & someone that can keep her busy. She's very smart, small for a female, and has recently gained weight (not enough exercise). I believe all shots are current. No known health problems, coat is shiny. She's very alert but I wouldn't describe her as hyper.

Thanks for the link, the WA state Dobie rescues sites so far have obsolete addresses!

You can just google Doberman Pinscher rescue.

I would not put her on PetFinder yourslef, you get alot of fruitloops out there looking for dogs. A rescue may be your best bet. I am in Indiana I would help if I could.

Hi, Gretta is my dobey THANX MOM for posting.

Yes i moved from a 5 acre/2000sq ft house to a 800sq ft house in the city and it just isnt working out, she needs more space and out of town and i am stuck here for at least another year or 2 :(.

Gretta needs alot of activity shes definately a 10 on the hyper meter and im about a 3 so thats not helping the fact were stuck in the small house together. She is a watch dog and will bark at people and animals so living in town is pretty rough as shes constantly letting me know theres people walking past.

She is great w/ other pets after she has been introduced, bout half hour for a dog and well i played it safe and didnt let her alone with the kitten till about 4 days..then they were best friends.

She is about 80 lbs atm and shots are good thru May so shes due on those. She is spayed.

Gretta is a beautiful example of a dobey, excellent markings and really good features at first i was going to sell her (i paid $350 for her) but then i thought about it and i really just want her to have a good home the money isnt important so she is free to the right situation. Paul

Thanks for the link

I joined today & put out some info. Your Dobe is beautiful also! Actually, I've yet to see one that isn't full of gracefulness & intelligent eyes.

Hopefully everything will work out for Gretta to have a good home.

Gretta will be missed!

Well, I'll miss having Gretta come over to visit. She only had one playtime with my new dog,Rags.

I'll add my thanks to Pavin's, we had good response from several people on the Dobe site. Just seeing all the pics there is great!

Guess I'll no longer call myself Gretta's grandma! Now I'm just new mom to Rags.

By the way, I've had Rags 7 weeks now. He's such a goofball! I also found some "hound" forums, been learning about Lurchers also. Have yet to see any large dog that has a tail that curls up! Finally was able to measure him, best I can figure he's about 30"high. I'm feeding him 5-6 cups per day of dry food (1/2 am 1/2 pm). He doesn't appear to be gaining back any of the weight loss from the shelter. Perhaps cause he RUNS so much everyday:eek:

Anyway, Rags must truly be in dog heaven on earth. He's a good dog & deserves the best he can have in life from now on....my biggest concern is that he will break a leg. Nothing slows him down when he's after his favorite squeeky toy!

My other son is visiting right now & for the first time since I've had Rags, he's being protective of me, won't let my son in the computer room! He's been growling at him & barking since he first met him yesterday afternoon. Any theories on this behavior? He met 2 other "strangers" earlier yesterday & didn't react this way!

He chased my cat up a tree, they actually share a sleeping area, but whenever he sees Sissy run he chases her. Sissy likes to torment him with going to high places or rolling around in front of him. He understands, "NO KITTY", and I'm not concerned he'll do any harm, he's just soooo big & those feet step on everything in the way!

You should probably stick your new questions in a new thread so that people will see them and be able to answer them :)
