I broke up with a guy in my early 20's because I didn't want kids and he did. There is no way I could compromise on something like that. As long as I can remember I have never wanted kids, ever. My fiance doesn't want kids either, so we'll be DINKS.

^^ yeah that.

I've said I didn't want kids since I was 13. I'm almost 25 now and have been begging Drs. to let me get my tubes tied for years.. they still won't do it!
I've had the same problem, but they had no problem snipping my fiance

Oh, and I tend to inadvertently teach kids bad habits, including swear words, soooo. . .I don't think I'd make a good mother anyway, lol.

Why would you be dinks for not having kids?

I think I want kids. I've always wanted kids, and I LOVE babies, but the responsibility of having a child kind of scares me. I want my kids to be caring, loving, productive members of society and what if I screw them up somehow??

Sometimes I feel like I only want kids because I want to know and love someone that is blood related to me (I'm adopted). Other times I feel like I only want to adopt children because I feel like I could relate better to them. And other, OTHER times I just want to be the best aunt in the world and have dogs as my children instead.

I have time to think on it though...and when I ask my boyfriend about it, he says he hasn't thought that far into the future yet :p

When I was little I asked my Dad where babies come from and he told me that God put them in women's stomachs. I prayed to God everyday for ages to not make me pregnant because I thought he didn't give you a choice.
This! My mum said the exact same thing, and I was SO scared God was going to give me a baby. Seriously worried. And I was like four years old. :rofl1:

I probably don't want kids. I've never had a maternal longing, and I really enjoy my life the way it is. I like travelling, I like exploring, and I really like my freedom. I enjoy being able to do whatever I want without being responsible for someone else. I'm only 21, so I guess I have the rest of my life to think about that sort of stuff, but I doubt my mind will change. One of my cousins has kids and like someone has said, I really don't envy her life. I have a six year old brother and a four year old brother, and they're more than enough for me. :)

I'm more career-minded/focused anyway, and my dogs are more than enough responsibility as it is. :D

I think an option was missed... *Have kids - want to take them? lol

While I have two kids, 12 & 4, and love them dearly, there are days where I wonder if life would have been easier without them. I certainly know it would have been different. But I love them, and don't regret them at all. Even when they drive me batty...

I have PCOS and some other health issues that make carrying a pregnancy to term rather unlikely. I would like to have kids, but I'm not sure how feasible that is.

I voted Chicken Fried Rice because I am STARVING.

Yes I want a kid, maybe 2. But I don't know if *I* want to have them or if I'll adopt. It will probably be in my late 30s when I have kids, as well.
I want to have my military career first then worry about a family.

Honestly for me it has nothing to do with not wanting to miss out on things. I just really do not have a maternal bone in my body and for a variety of reasons I'm not going to go into gory details about I'm quite certain I would make a terrible mother. And no, it wouldn't be different if it was my own, I assure you. (Kinda sick of hearing that can you tell? :p)

And I'm old enough to have reached the point of no return and look back with no regrets whatsoever. I'm quite happy to have left parenthood in the hands of people who want to be parents. :)

I was one of the "NO KIDS EVER" crowd until I was about 28 when a friend had a baby. Now I can't imagine life without the monster known as Syd. But, she's more than enough kid to go around. She will be an only child.

Sort of... I kind of feel I just need to do it, and I'll love it, rather than its a burning desire. The desire is more giving a child an great childhood than having kids... picnics, baking, sleepovers, walks, playing, toys....

Other half would be happy with none, but he does talk about 'when we have kids' now.

Hmm.. if only I can convince him to go have that done LOL.
I didn't even have any convincing to do, I had mentioned that I was gonna go back to the docs and see if they would finally do that for me. His response was no, it's too invasive for you, it's much easier for me to do it. I was pleasantly surpised that he volunteered.

I always knew I did not want to be pregnant. The whole thing is just so . . . unappealing, lol.

And then there's the whole baby thing, and the toddler thing, and the little kid thing, when they are cute and okay when you can give them back to their parents. I really love kids when they hit the age where no one else can stand them, when their parents want to lock them in the basement and feed them with a slingshot.

So my choice would be to be a great second mom to someone else's teenagers. That I could love.
