... an item in your house that you never thought you needed, but now you can't live without?

Mine is my french press. We got it a few years ago, and at the time I was like, "Seriously? What are we even going to use this for?"

Today I was washing it, dropped it, and thought I had broken it. I almost died in a puddle of my own tears.
(Thankfully, it was not broken, though. *HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF*)

Soo... what's your story?

I had the exact opposite experience as you, maxfox! I broke my french press in the dishwasher, so I had to use this weird, one-cup coffee filter holder thingy...ah, it looks like this:

It was a Christmas present and I thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever until I had no other way to make coffee. I haven't replaced the french press yet. :D

Usually I have the opposite problem. I buy something because I "know" I'll use it all the time! and can't live without it! Then a week later I'm like, why did I buy this and where am I supposed to put it?? LOL.

^ This usually applies to dog gear

Clive's carrier. He always hated front carriers so I thought he'd be the same for a back one. I was interested in them, but kept convincing myself 'Why am I spending this much for something he's probably going to hate'. But, we were going to a dog show and I knew I couldn't carry him all day, certainly could not let him run free and wasn't sure how I'd be able to maneuver a stroller, so ordered one.

Best. Thing. Ever. That has prevented so many toddler tantrums in stores, since if he's tired, he just goes to sleep, vs sitting in a cart all crabby.

Can't think of anything in the house. But I didn't want the Extang low profile cover for my truck. I actually had a major, irrational explosion after we put it on (long story). Now? I love the thing. I even stopped at the vender's booth at a local truck show to tell him how much I love it.

My smartphone.

Never really had an interest in them, got my iphone, and it's now my favorite handheld object around the house.
