Do you have set places at the dinner table?

So. Do you?

(Saw this on Apartment therapy, and thought I'd ask here. ^^)

We always sit in the same seats. When we moved from the US to here we took our dinner table, but the seating changed. I stole a better spot and bumped my mom to the end of the table. :p
SO and I have the same spots at the dinner table as well - and we always sit in the same spot at my grandma's too. My little cousin messed it up once, and didn't hear the end of it the whole day. ;)

Not technically, but I do always try and sit in one certain seat because it's my favourite. Same with the furniture in the livingroom. I pick a spot that's mine... and kind of feel a little lost of that spot is taken by somebody else haha.

We did growing up, but not so much anymore. We don't eat dinner together very often, and now we have 2-3 extra people living with us...our table technically only seats 4, but we have extra chairs for dinner, so it's sort of a battle over who gets the comfortable seats and doesn't have to climb over everyone else :p

I, however, almost always sit in the same spot. I don't think I've ever sat at the opposite side of my table for a meal. I sat in this one seat the other day at breakfast, as it was the only one open, and it felt so weird, I don't think I've EVER sat there before.

Yeah, we did as kids, but not so much anymore. For one thing I started cooking for myself when I was 16ish, so the family started eating together less and less. And now my parents most often eat in the living room in front of the TV...

Even if nobody else is at the table, I'll still sit in my proper chair though, haha.

Yup. LOL Whenever I go home and have dinner with my family, I always claim "my" seat again, too.

yes we do. raising 5 kids, the more 'assigned' things and routines we had the smoother the house ran.

even now with only the two boys for regular meals we stick to our 'normal' seats.

Nope, we never really did, but we hardly every ate dinner together when I was a teenager since we had such different schedules.

I'm not big into having "spots". My mom was a daycare provider when I was growing up so I had to learn to share...a lot.

Nope. When it's just the 4 of us (my parents, me, my brother) having dinner together, generally we always sit in the same spots just because... we do. And we have favorites or whatever. When all the siblings come over, it's a complete free for all.
