Do you have "dog friends" in real life?

It seems like the few 'dog friends' I actually had have literally ALL had babies recently so I never see them as much anymore let alone do 'dog things' with them lol.

I guess that is what happens when you hang out with people older than you, though...

But I had 3 pretty good friends (met 2 of them at the dog park, another I used to dogsit her dog) that I could always count on at least one to hit up the park, go for a walk, go to a local dog event, even just hit up the pet store, or whatever. Of course, understandably, now they're all super busy. They all each have 2 dogs + a baby. We still try to get together for walks, but most other stuff is questionable or too hard with dogs + baby.

It sucks, lol, so I went to the park today by myself with Jackson, lol, which I don't necessarily mind but I had gotten used to having 'dog friends' to be able to call on a dime for a quick meet up. Oh and even my uncle... I used meet up with him semioften with his GSD to go to the local parks or whatnot, but he just moved so it's not as convenient anymore.

Of course I became friends with Amber too (skittledoo on chaz) but we're still kind of a distance away and now that she's moving too. :(

I need more real life dog friends. :p

Yes; I barely have any non-dog friends! And they are horse friends for the most part (some overlap between the two, of course).

Yep! Most my social life is either work friends or dog friends these days.

Ok I really don't have that much of a social life haha. Most my weekends have a dog event of some kind. At least up through June. I was just filling out my calendar and realized I have a dog thing or two every weekend in May and 2/4 weekends in June so far.

My summer 'vacation' is a noswork trial in san antonio if all goes well. :rofl1:

I've got quite a few "dog friends" that I see on a semi regular basis. But most of them do not live within a distance that it would be easy to just call up for a trip to the pet store.
Not only that, but a lot of my social life revolves around going to dog-related things. Either a trial, a show, or training class. So there's that.

Me too! Makes it really difficult to search for a job since most want weekend employees lmao.

Where I live now, I have 2 "dog friends" that are usually willing to come on a hike with me or do a trip to the dog park. Both husky owners interestingly.

Sort of? I'm friendly with people in my classes, but not "friends". There is a young couple in my agility class that I would like to make friends with, but I'm not sure if they live near me (agility is 50min away, and they could live an hour in the opposite direction).

Many of my regular friends do have dogs though (mostly friends through work). They don't do dog sports or anything but they love their dogs and are usually happy to get together for a play date (if we can find a fenced area, since only one is good off leash).

I have a few! None really close by but I try to do things with Nina (who has Rue the Coolie) on a semi regular basis. Now that I work at a dog place I've been meeting more people that I would be interested in doing things with and I'm hoping more I get into disc more people I'll meet.

I know the feeling though, I really like doing things alone a lot of times but sometimes it's nice to pick up the phone and say "Hey! Want to go do _____ !"

But, I gotta say I'm lucky and I get to meet a lot of my Chaz dog friends! Being in Chicago has it's perks because a lot of people pass through or visit which is great.

For me a lot of my classmates became 'friends' once we started trialing together.

Most of the friends I have like dogs (and other animals) and enjoy doing things with their own dogs (going for a hike, for instance), but dogs (and animals) aren't their hobby/passion. My best friend didn't bat an eye when I asked her to come with me to the Chicago Chaz meetup last year, so there is that. :p

I have no non-dog friends since I moved to GA. My husband is a dog person, and all the people I hang out with are into agility or from my IPO club.

Yes and no. I've made friends with customers at work who compete in dog sports and it's how I met some of the local Schutzhund club I'm friends with and talk to them when they come in. It's how I met my friend Steve who is big into dock dogs and disc dogs. And a friend that is into tracking and Rally.

My best friend since elementary school is also a dog nerd. :)

I actually prefer to do most dog things by myself though, as far as walks or park visits go.

No. I don't have many friends but definitely none who would nerd out with me. A co worker is sort of dog nerdy but... not in the same way.

My only chance is soon moving to Colorado. :(

I have very few non-dog friends. Most of my co-workers turn into friends through dog stuff, or students in classes become friends. :p

I love that most of them do very different things, so I can see each friend when I do different dog things. XD Except that awesome boyfriend of mine doing like... everything.

I have a few... Auggie's breeder is my friend, she counts I guess LOL. I have "agility friends" but most of them do not live here anymore. So many have moved away, and then there's another batch who never lived here to begin with and I only see them at trials. Actually that's not true - one of them DID live here and then moved away, and now she is part of the group who doesn't live here, but I never knew her until after she moved away hahaha. Kinda random.

Technically my friend from where I train is a "dog friend" but whenever we're together we pretty much never talk dogs... and we don't really do "dog things" together. We go drinking and play pool LOL.

Most of them are not dog people though. They ask how my dogs are and stuff and they think it's cool what I do. But they aren't really dog people. I'm just their charming little redneck friend who does dog stuff. =P

I don't exactly mind though. I am honestly so busy with my own dogs, it's kind of nice when I go out to NOT be around dog people.

I have one of those, too! Just replace elementary with middle :)

Butttt... She's having a baby in August so I know that dog things will start to take up less and less time. Which is fine and understandable, but ya know :p

Honestly I don't really have much time to hang out with people anyway, so I'm not sure how much of a social life I even have. My work-dog friends live in the city mainly (45 minutes away) and the club I train at is also about 45 mins away. So yeah. I have friends at work, and friends at the club. We just never meet outside of that (except trials of course).

Well, there's Lauren, who I met online. One of our co-workers calls Lauren my other half and Tim is my significant other, it's funny, yet fitting.

And almost all of my local friends are dog friends, a few of them I "met" through blogging when I lived an hour from the cities. I have one previous-work friend I still see on a semi-regular basis (she's a rabbit person). I have three friends from college (none of them own ANY pets, it's weird sometimes, haha). And ALL the rest are dog-related.

Not that I've had time to actually meet up with people outside of my FAMILY circle lately though.

Not really, but I generally don't like people so....

Well, that's not true, I just have no desire to put the energy towards making, and keeping friends. I see work people 8+ hours a day, then I"m pretty happy to just do my own thing.

That said, going on a walks, or meeting up at events, with a few of my Chaz friends has been a lot of fun
