Awhile back, someone on here posted about the 'diva cup' (http://www.divacup.com/)

I just ordered one, and I have to say, I am freaking in love with this thing. It is AMAZING.

I normally wouldnt come on here posting/tell friends about things like this, but it seriously is too good not to share...plust it is sooo much better for the environmnent and sooo cost efficient. It is reusable, and lasts for like 10 years...

I just bought one here for $25ish shipped, and will now probably never have to pay another cept for a pad/tampon for another 10 years. Plus, I wont have to worry about leakage, going to the pool, being scared of just something going wrong...

I have one, had a hard time putting it in the first time so kinda gave up, but going to try again soon lol.

My only worry is... I know it won't leak and all, but when you change it, you will lose blood, and I'm worried it will be messy anyway :( My period is super heavy so if I end up with blood in my panties just because I had to empty the cup, it doesn't seem that handy. I don't want to have to wash every time I change it or something (that, and can you wash with it inside anyway?).

Any tip?

lol I have one and also love it. Not that I've had a period in awhile. I usually only had to empty twice during the heavy days (morning and night) and I don't normally need anything at night the last few days so we were good there. Never had to empty it in a public bathroom but you can also wipe it with tissue and rinse it when you get home. As for overflowing the majority of women don't bleed as much as they think they do. For most women the cup could hold your ENTIRE period. They are a bit weird to get used to though.

ok...nevermind...I thought people on here would be more open to this. I know the concept is gross...but get over it.

Think about how much waste you contribute to the environment with pads and tampons...this completely eliminates that.

Think about how much money you spend each year on pads/tampons. This is a one time $25 fee.

Think about how many times you have been caught without a pad/tampon, or leaks unexpectedly happen, and you are faced with a potentially embarrassing and aggravating situation...once again, those situations should really never occur with this thing.

Fran, obviously I cannot speak for sure, since I do not have a heavy period, but from what I have heard, it is pretty hard to fill this thing up, and even if you do, you just empty it out more often to avoid overflowing. The thing actually is supposed to form a 'seal' so I think it would be REALLY hard to make it overflow anyways???

Anyways, when you empty it, your underwear should be nowhere near it, lol. That is kinda like saying you are worried about taking out a tampon, and getting your underwear dirty....just shouldnt happen since you do it over the toilet. Not to be gross, but really...the worst that could happen is that you get some on your hands...yes, gross, but there is TP in the stall for a reason, and a sink and soap once you get out of the stall...

Contrary to the situation Tosca is imagining, I would never freaking wash the thing in public...wtf. If you need to empty it in public, then you empty it, wipe the rim with some TP, and re put it back in...

I havent mastered taking it out and putting it back in yet, but each time I do, it gets quicker and quicker. Emptying it in public (and reinserting it), once you master it, should take less than a minute...

And yeah, you can shower with it, run with it, swim with it...do anything...cept well...have sex, lol.

"Every female in the world should own a DivaCup and once you get over the steep learning curve, it will be the best thing your vagina has ever experienced!"
Somehow I doubt that! ;)

But regardless it does sound like a great alternative to tampons or pads.
I guess I need size 2 :yikes:

Dreeza tell us about usage and leakage etc. I would believe you, but some of those testomonials sound a little far fetched. Lol

LMAO! The string is scary as well, though.
So it's just my bf that thinks that's a toy? lol

I find it funny how some women (no one here) get so turned off by their own blood or body. I kind of like knowing exactly what is going on with mine and I like how the diva cup has those little measuring cup lines lol.

I met a woman who was Chilean but grew up in the UK and when I met her she was 40 and we were roommates and she came running out of the bathroom freaking out once "I just peed with my tampon in omg what's going to happen?" All her life she took out her tampon to pee. Back to anatomy 101 for her!

By the way, I assuming the get over it comment was directed at me since I was the only one that said Ewwww, and I dont think I will for the reason stated below...

The ONLY reason I think its gross, is because there could be a time when you can't wash it out... (sorry but just wiping it out isn't good enough for me) and I don't care if it my own stuff or not, I just think its gross if it wasn't washed out each and every single time it was emptied...
