This is Deacon ' new thread. I brought him home yesterday and I learned 5 interesting things.

1. A nissan Versa sucks to drive in the mountains of WV and Virginia.

2. There are hot normal guys is WV.

3. Shi tzu (not sure of spelling) are extra friendly at rest stops in Virginia.

4. Singing loud and badly in an attempt to drown out puppy whines makes puppies howl.

5. Puppy poop in a fog crate stinks up a nissan versa VERY quickly.

But here is a pic of who made it the torture of the drive worth it:

Thanks everyone. He definitely is cute and still in the wake up pee/poop/eat/play a little then go back to sleep stage. So easy times right now.
He is so flippin' cute! How is your other dog warming up to him?
Chase is kinda grumpy about it today. He's resource guarding toys/food from puppy. But weird about it, he brought a toy to Deacon then stood over it growling. Kinda growls when pup is doing something he doesn't like. I am keeping them close but seperate, some small supervised interactions. Chase always has the option to leave, Deacon is in my lap/or on my bed/couch with me so i can intervene quickly. If puppy is in his crate Chase is super interested, but when puppy is wandering around he seems more upset.

We took advantage of the weather to do some socialization in the front of my house. I brought Chase out as well to work on focus and desensitization.

He is so cute and fluffy!! I can't wait to see more pics as he grows up.

Poor Chase. Hopefully he gets the hang of this puppy thing soon and realizes that they can be friends.

Than you for the compliments, everyone.
He's cute! They're not right for me but I really like poodles.
I really didn't like poodles at first, but when I really considered what I wanted in my next dog, poodles kept coming up. So I went out and met a few.
Cute puppy!

I actually rented the versa, my 05 elantra would have died, lol.

Chase is a jerk. He's scaring me with some pretty intense resource guarding. I have a management plan in place for now and a trainer coming to do an evaluation. In the meantime we are doing some counter conditioning. My main concern is fear I'm reading his signals incorrectly and setting him up for failure and creating more tension. He's also has an appointment with vet for tomorrow.

Some pics, but not very many due to super active puppy never holding still. I envy all of you who can get action shots. I may have to actually use my real digital camera soon. I won it two years ago in a raffle, but have never used it.

Counter conditioning with Chase has been going slow, due to food allergies and an elimination diet I'm kind of limited on high value treats. They've had some very good interactions this past week and I've been diligent in keeping toys and food out of reach when they are interacting.

They seem to share napkin nicely though. I removed it soon after I realized they were playing with it and had their attention elsewhere.
