Went to see if one of my local shelters was hiring, and I saw something very interesting. A black w/ white markings Cocker or Cocker X , not sure which. She/he was very beautiful but scared. He was in the county strays section, so he was just brought in. Can Cocker's even have blue eyes? I mean these where ice blue. Sorry, it was too dark in there to get any good pictures.

From what I can see, only the merle Cockers have blue eyes, so she was either a merle or a Cocker mix. Breeds like BCs, Bostons, and Shih Tzu, for example, can have blue eyes in the non-merles, but not Cockers. (Someone please correct me if I found incorrect info .... this is not my breed, so I'm just quoting what I read).

Had to be a merle or a cross to have blue eyes. I personally find it creepy, but it's my breed, and I find merle pretty off putting on it's own in cockers.

It's not registerable. Not a DQ.. simply can't be registered. So people lie and claim they are roan and then can have AKC or CKC papers and keep breeding for a colour that is highly questionable in the breed.

I've seen some dogs where people are trying to actively breed for merle and be in breed standard that look liek parti coloured cockers with blue eyes..

Most merle cockers I've seen are so far from breed standard they have merle colouring and barely resemble a cocker in the slightest.
