Do you guys give/get Christmas stockings?

What have you gotten in previous years?

I'm trying to get ideas to stuff stockings for people!

Yep, stockings are a tradition in our families. Common fillers include favorite candy/gum, fuzzy socks, sometimes gift cards or an inexpensive bracelet/pair of earrings.

My grandmother gives us all garbage bag sized stocking. She puts pencils, small toys like bouncy balls, candy, gloves, bath stuff, pretty much anything you can fit into a stocking. Usually under $10. She tries to get each of something special but also balances them out. Its a lot of fun. We open ours every Christmas eve. :)

We do stockings, they've gotten less exciting over the years. Last year my mom was like "What am I supposed to put in your stocking now? You don't eat candy."

I said "Apples? Peanut butter? Make-up? Dark chocolate?" I came up with a whole slew of suggestions. My dad put tools in my stocking, like a utility knife and pocket screwdriver set.

I always try to buy a few little things for my parent's stockings... I just think they don't care much anymore. Booooo.

We haven't done stockings since I was probably 11 or 12, but I miss it! It was always so much fun. My mom used to put the standard candy, gum, little pieces of jewelry, gadgets (book lights and things) and puzzles (not jigsaws, but the brainy/logic ones). I was in school at the time, so she's also put in new mechanical pencils, erasers, markers or pencil crayons. Sometimes a new ornament for the tree :)

Still do stockings!

I fill Kevin's and he fills mine....I fill the kids (even if they aren't kids anymore, LOL) and of course the dog/s get one too!

As a kid, I remember apples, oranges, WALNUTS, BEEF JERKY....OMG I loved getting jerky in my sock! LOL All sorts of candy, little inexpensive gifts like costume jewelry, make up, chapsticks, magic stretch gloves, and a big favorite of my kids...... SCRATCH LOTTO TICKETS! :D

The dog/s usually get pig ears, squeaky things, biscuits, etc in their sock....and it's fun cause they have to get the stuff out themselves (under supervision so they don't rip up the sock! LOL)

If you guys have something like a Dollar Tree (everything's a dollar) just go nuts with little amusing gifts or joke presents! Have fun! :D

My mother and I still do stockings for each other! I never know what I'll get in mine, really. Usually small but enjoyable things. Candy, socks, mittens, CDs, things for my pets, etc.

This year I'm doing a lot of shopping on Etsy; and I ordered her these soap samples as a stocking stuffer (even got an extra, hehe):

Then I usually get her gum, scents for the house, and anything else I can find she might like. :)

We always do stockings! :D

Mom sewed us all stockings and she stuffs them Christmas Eve. As a child, they were the first thing we would unwrap Christmas morning. My absolute favorite part. ^^ Just a lot of little gifts, and so much fun. Now that most of us kids have moved out, we still have stockings. Mom has even made our SOs stockings, and she hangs them up with ours. They are still the first thing we open when we get together Christmas, and it is still my favorite part.

My children will definitely get stockings. :)

Oh, and we normally get things like CDs, collectible cards (as kids), inexpensive video games, candy, perfume, socks, little toys/nicknacs, chapstick, a yearly calender, etc., etc. I got a slinky dog one year. ^^

We do stockings! Same as everyone else. Scratch off lotto tickets are big, little toys, lotions, soap, Chapstick, keychains, candy (chocolate oranges a lot), cheap jewelry, etc.

Sometimes as kids we would get notes from Santa or clues to a present treasure hunt in our stockings, too

OMG that reminds me of the year we got the kids a Playstation 2 when they first came out (ya, that was a long while ago! LOL)

We put a piece of a puzzle clue in each of their stockings....they had to put all their parts together for the first clue then treasure hunt around the house to find the actual console! So much fun and they STILL talk about that at Christmas :)

Memories are the best gifts ever :D

.....

I get made fun of year round for my stockings. They go up but never come down! My stocking, Josh's stocking, and the dog's stockings have all been up since last Christmas.

It was a tradition in my house growing up to get an orange, so I normally put an orange in mine and J's. Dogs get a small bag of treats or a chew in theirs (I may do bully sticks this year). I think I will do socks/boxers in Josh's this year as well.

Thanks for all the ideas!

So far I've got fuzzy socks, coffee pods, tiny little books, shaving cream and badger brush for the guys, candy cane tea infuser...hmm that's about it. No one eats a lot of candy other than me so I can't do those although I'd love to. I love stockings! They're the best part!

It's so silly and childish but we each have individual stockings with our name written on the cuff with glitter :rofl1:

If they don't like candy, maybe some fancy tea, little jars of spices if they like to cook, those tiny airplane liquor bottles, dried fruit type snacks, etc.

Dried fruits is a good idea actually. Little bottles of liquor for the guys if I can find them in the liquor store.

We have a big thing with drinking tea and both our families have an entire cupboard dedicated to fancy tea, unfortunately their family told me no more tea outright so that's a no go.

Another idea for men: shoe polish if they wear nice shoes, a shoe polish rag. I'm buying my dad shoelaces (he breaks a shoelace a couple times a year) and some waterproofing spray for his shoes - he no longer wears the shoes that require polish, but he does still waterproofs his boots. Boring, but practical... and guys like practical. =P

I wish someone would stuff some waterproofing spray into my stockings! I use up that stuff like crazy since it rains for literally half the year non-stop in Vancouver...

My kids always loved their stockings the best. I put make-up in the girls and aftershave in the boys, also perfume, candles, jewelry, games and gift cards. They also get their favorite candy in there.
