We will never calculate the cost of Paytongility.
Ever.

Over a year in open with still only one OAJ leg to show for it?

Never.
I'm in the same boat...Ocean started in Novice in 2013 and we got out of it completely this July. We spent last year trying to get anything at 24" inches...I gave up and went back to preferred this year. I've spent loads of money just on just novice. Ocean's Q rate is one....maybe two day out of 4 runs right now. I don't know many dogs who go out and Q every single time they step foot into an agility or obedience trial ring.

An OTCH which is the obedience champion ship for obedience has so many variables. You have to place to get points...and those points are based on how many people are in the classes. Small classes = small points. You and your dog receive 100 points by placing first, second, third or fourth in the Open B or Utility B classes and a first place in Utility B and/or Open B three times. With obedience trials getting fewer and fewer entries....it's getting way harder to get those 100 quickly. An OTCH could cost someone thousands of dollars and a couple of years to get.

And I think entry fees are dependent on area....obedience entries aren't $25.00 here. They run from $27- 32. The second class of the day is $25.00 A UDX (or RAE) attempt for me run $57.00 here in New England.

Way too many variables for conformation. Specially if you have no points and you blew the entry money.

I refuse to calculate how much I have spent. Then you have to include travel for you, food and vehicle.

It is a labor of love.

Oh yeah...then there are the expenses like hotel, food, and gas if you have to travel to show.

I refuse to add up when I've spent on showing two dogs. :yikes:
