Pretty sure there is not much cooler than a 9 week old puppy offering behaviors and being so focused and motivated during training.

And he was curiously watching some people play tennis when we went to the park, but easily engaged in playing with me. Love!
That's awesome! What a good boy!

Hazel is very easy to redirect from anything distracting and is always willing to focus on me. I'm terrified that this will disappear when she becomes a teenager. Haha.

Hahah yes every awesome thing he does I go ".....but you're still a baby and this could all disappear." But hopefully this is just a good foundation to build on and get good habits right from the start!

It's been 6 years since I brought home a baby baby puppy (other than a million fosters over the last two years), but this one is for keeps, and he needs a name if he doesn't keep the one he has now.

9 week old, Brussels mix. Came in as Larri, currently Ollie (short for Ollivander)

Apparently sitting on the center console in the car is the cool thing to do. Like mother like son.

That is too funny! Also, momma dog is really pretty.

Love the Sawyer on the center counsel. Gosh, he's making me really want an ACD :p

(Crossbone's place of choice is also the center counsel)

Puppy question for all the other puppy people!

Has anyone had a puppy cry out (10-15secs of yelping) because of teething? This morning Hazel cried twice, once while we were playing and I tugged on the toy (which made me think teeth) and the other when she was playing with Watson (not sure what they were doing, but it was gentle so he didn't hurt her). It seemed really dramatic for just teething, especially since Watson never cried and he's a huge weenie. I don't see any signs of teething (no loose teeth or red gums) but it's about that time. It could be something else, but she's not limping and didn't mind when I manipulated her legs and feet.

Is it normal to cry this much during teething? She's going to the vet tomorrow anyway for shots so I'll ask, but I'm curious. I hope it's just teething and not something more serious. We went for her first hike last night and she handled it like a champ, but now I'm worried we overdid it and she pulled something or hurt herself.

Yes, I've had dogs cry during tug while teething.

Typically if a dog is that soft, it's recommended not to tug during that time period because you can really inhibit their drive for it.

I see it in probably 25% of puppies. Just not quite hard and strong enough.

Patton was dangling from frisbees while teething lol

Yeah, definitely no more tug for her. After she got over the yelping she wanted to play again, so we just played fetch and I held the toy while she chewed it, but didn't pull back. I'm more worried about her playing with Watson since she likes to tug on toys he has, or hang from his collar (which is so annoying), but I guess she'll knock it off if it hurts her.

She usually has a very high pain tolerance though, so I'm surprised she was so dramatic. Watson is giant weenie about everything and he was tugging with loose teeth and bleeding gums without being bothered at all.

Glitch is currently missing 3.5 canines (a bottom is halfway in) and he doesn't seem to notice. Both tops fell out at the same time in daycare, and I about had a heart attack when I saw all the blood in my yard

How's Pilot doing with his training?

He surprises me everyday! His focus, settling abilities, and stamina are incredible. Also his cognition of criteria in vest vs out is impeccable. You'd never know the 9 month old puppy lying under my chair for hours in a restaurant is also a fantastic disc competitor and demo dog for sports classes and performances.

He should have a very quick and easy transition into the program. My only concern is his adaptability to another handler. He is very handler focused and has shown some small signs of stress when handled by others previously. Hopefully not enough of a road bump to wash him out and something we're working on.

Deacon is adorable! I can't imagine grooming a puppy lol.

Despite having a rocky start with our housebreaking, it is now more typical for him to NOT have accidents and today he has actually signaled to go outside twice. Could be coincidence I guess lol but both times he deliberately ran up to the door and immediately ran out to the grass and went potty when I opened it. There's also a massive improvement in his bladder control which helps. No longer peeing every 10 minutes lol.

He even slept through the night last night!! Last potty break was at midnight, I went to bed shortly after and he didn't make a peep until 7am. Usually he needs out twice during the night. It was soooo nice to get a normal stretch of sleep!

We went to the lake last night and holy cow he was so adorable lol and had so much fun. I don't really know how much he actually enjoyed the water, but he went in it!

He starts puppy class in 2 days which is also when he turns 10 weeks. I love love love this dog.

I groomed Hazel today for the first time (other than some training and practice stuff). It went really well. I'm very glad she's not a poodle though! Welshies are easy in comparison.

I'm also jealous of your puppy who sleeps all night. She slept until 5:30 tonight and we were in awe. I'm home for 45min for lunch and she will pee three times. She also peed everywhere in her crate on Friday when we went out to dinner for 3 hours. Though she had chugged a lot of water after coming inside and I left water in her crate, so I think she drank until she exploded. Still, she's almost 4 months now. I hoped she'd have more bladder control now. Almost no accidents in the house otherwise but we still take her out constantly and she always pees.

Here's are some pictures of my grooming efforts:
