SO many super cute Border Collies! Yay for puppies all around.

Except for people like me who don't get any more puppies for years and years, and will have to live vicariously through all the Chaz puppy pictures, of which there will be MANY, right?!?

My puppy progress so far:

She is learning her name pretty reliably now. Still conditioning how she responds to her name but at least she's not oblivious like she was.

She is starting to learn how to fetch, not reliably but it's a start. Mostly just chasing toys and bringing them back to me because she wants to be near me while playing.

She plays tug, but doesn't quite know the rules of the game yet. She is learning though.

I've started luring her to a sit and down, but they are not on cue yet. She hasn't started on a clicker yet if for no other reason than I want to teach her mouth control and lures work well for that IME.

She is getting better at picking her chewing targets. She chews the nylabone reliably when she wants something hard (vs my toe... or the desk... or the chair...) and uses her rope toy or de-stuffed animals when she wants something soft. She still makes mistakes like, say, attempting to chew my surface pro 2 tablet while i was using it to type this post lol.

I haven't done much leash training yet, she is still building her confidence in her new home, I am going to nurture that for a while before exposing her to the outside world. She handles surprises very well, but does seem to be the kind of dog who wants to observe the world and understand what is going on before she takes part in it.

Sounds like she's doing great!

You know you can use a clicker/marker with lure training, right? I was a little confused by that part.

So I had an opportunity to possibly get a Dane puppy this year. Like seriously gorgeous and awesome dogs, as well as gorgeous puppies from past litters. Not to mention my mom has been wanting another Dane for years now!

But due to my mom's severe dog allergies that have recently developed (so bad she had to go to the ER!), we decided against adding another dog to the house. Which sucks, majorly. But it's the right decision.

But, but, but...

I.WANT.A.PUPPY.

(meant to put this in the musing thread. Oops :p)

Puppies are six weeks old on Monday! And my breeder just posted some new pictures. Again, the pics were taken by and belong to my breeder, etc. etc.

Agate (I always do them in birth order).

Granite.

Marble.

I honestly don't have a favourite (I love them all) but there were way too many pics of Quartz and Granite to choose from! I'm so excited. So so so excited.

Quartz's face reminds me of baby Georgie's face! But Granite looks like trouble so that's the one I like LOL. I always like the ones who are trouble... that's how I ended up with Auggie and Payton... maybe don't get Granite LOL.
