We're trying to figure out a present for one of the kiddos in the family, a 2-ish year old boy. He's walking and talking now.

We're at a loss. What's cool or fun or a good developmental toy for under $50?

Lego duplos! They just never get old. Or I agree with Green Toys (they have fun vehicles, dunno about educational though) and Melissa and Doug (puzzles, play food set, my son loved this http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-...664&sr=1-5&keywords=melissa+and+doug+stacking).

Lego duplos! They just never get old...

I second the Duplo block suggestion. Or Mega Blocks- they're compatible with Duplo/Legos.
