My Logan is 8 months now, and there is FINALLY a light at the end of the tunnel. OMG the first 6 months sucked royally. It is so much better now that he can stay sitting up. I cannot wait until he can sit up on his own so if he topples over he isn't stuck. He can almost crawl, so baby proofing is imminent.

DH took him this weekend to visit his parents in Ohio, so I had my first days alone in over 8 months. OMG, it's amazing. This is the best gift, EVER. I am going to ask for another weekend like this for my birthday in March :D

He's so cute!!!

And I'm jealous. I've had *one* night without the kids in 6 years, when I went to PA to see a concert. Overall it was not even 24 hours. I'd love a couple days just to myself, although I'd probably be worried they'd get in an accident or something. So for now I'm just enjoying the 6 hours of peace when the kids are at school.

Everyone kept saying, "You'll miss him too much, you'll be going crazy by the end of the weekend!" Uh, no. 2 days is perfect. My house is clean, dinners for the week are made, errands are run, and I got a full night's sleep!

I wish we had family near by (my parents are in California, his are in Ohio, we're in Virginia) so the little mister could have sleepovers once in a while. I'm envious of people whose (trustworthy) parents are within driving distance!

Yeah, heck, even family. Our closest family is 1 hour away (they moved back there after 3 years). We've had a grand total of 2 evenings without the kids - once visiting family, they took care of the kids while we went out, then this Summer they had a 'dance party' from 6 to 9pm. Friday the gym has a drop off kids night though, so we'll be alone from 5 to 9pm, so that's going to be the third time. Although I guess I could look into that babysitter thing, but I'm always a bit nervous having people I don't know in the house (especially with the dog and all). Heck I haven't even really trusted my mom with the kids more than an hour when she visits, and I'm not sure I'd trust her to put the kids to bed alone... they are a bit overwhelming :lol-sign:

For those who planned their pregnancies...

Did you ever have a check list of things to do before you got pregnant? Own house vs rent, healthy(like meds, no major hormonal problems, off birth control, etc) for 'x' amount of time, dogs have to 'x' old first, 'x' amount of money saved, or whatever of the sort?

Mentally, BeAu and I are all ready. Financially, physically - those are the current struggles. And I know there is no "perfect" time, but obviously there are better times.

I can't afford a babysitter! The high school kids charge $15/hour! That makes our $30 dinner cost $60, and that ain't in the budget very often.

And yeah, bedtime makes me nervous. It's a struggle for me to get him down, so I'm not sure I'd feel right making a stranger deal with the bedtime routines!

We don't have any grandparents in the area. My MIL is always a bit upset that Hannah doesn't want to sleep over with her when she visits but why WOULD she want to. She's used to being home, in her bed and while she loves her Grammy she only sees her twice a year and she's only 7. My goodness I remember being 8 and sleeping at my friends across the street and I bawled my eyes out all night looking at my house lol. and that was someone I saw and played with everyday. Every kid is different but Hannah likes to be home when it's bedtime or at least know I'm in the same house with her if she has to sleep somewhere different. She's like me that way.

We do have some awesome babysitting options though. The young girl across the street babysits for us and is always surprised when we pay her lol. she also dog sits for us when we go away. We have another girl at our church that babysits. We took her to Disney with us in January :) Hannah has decided they are sisters lol. Plus my lady friends from church are great about offering to take her if I even just need to run errands. I rarely take them up on it though. Hannah is so mild mannered... errands have always been easy with her.

Yes.

Home in a good school district
Salaries high enough that we could save for college
Stable jobs
At least 5 really awesome vacations
$10k in the "emergency" fund

And I am so glad we did. Things are 100x more challenging with the baby. There is no extra money, no time/energy for vacations, I am half assing it at work because I can't stay late anymore (so it's nice not having to "prove" myself). I have little time for friends, dog training, or anything outside of changing diapers and entertaining the munchkin.

Well it took 4 years to actually have children once we decided to... But we had a house, hubby had a job, I didn't but was planning to stay home with the children anyway, so I guess there was no reason not to try. We had just got married really, but there really wasn't any obstacle (we only had cats at the time). Heck we had much less money once we had our children actually, as we wasted a lot of money on fertility treatment and ended up adopting, which isn't cheap either, but hubby had a good job.

No check list. But we knew it was right. We are financially stable... Settled as we can be. And knew we aren't getting any younger. And we know we are in it for the long haul. Think you just know.

Today I had a surprise baby shower. Omg. Surprised!! Wasn't expecting that at all.... Proper emotional!!! 5 weeks to go till D day. Can't quite believe it. Nearly have the nursery finished and everything ready  still don't feel pregnant sometimes lol.

I think the dogs are onto something. Well bodhi in particular is being very clingy with me and needy. Constantly near by and wanting up... Bless her.

I've been on bed rest for two hours.
Two hours.
My head is going to explode!
How am I supposed to do this until FRIDAY (possibly longer)??? I'm bored, and irritated, and scared, and frankly wishing my contractions world stop. They don't hurt yet so much as they're ANNOYING and way too early. :(

I hope everything is ok! Bed rest would drive me totally nuts.

Is everyone gearing up for Christmas yet? I'll admit, the kids shopping is pretty much done here. They asked for pretty generic stuff, so unless there is some last minute specific Santa request (I'm not sure they'll even bother sending him a list this year, I'm not sure they still actually believe, after they realized I am the one who did the Easter stuff), I am done.

I got to say, I just love shopping for them, and I realize that it won't be long before they're over toys and only ask for video games or something (and there are already some on the list. Sigh).. But it's been just so much fun every year to see them open their presents. Are you all getting excited for it?

Oh my gosh, puppydog, that's so scary. Do you have help caring for her at home? (Are you staying home with her?) What is involved with it all?
We are home. We got home 7 days after she was trached. We change the trach daily and it requires occational suctioning because she can't swallow tracheal secretions like we can.

No nursing or help. I do it myself. She is an easy baby other then the fact that she is SUPER busy. She has started scooting around on her side now, the crawling process starts differently in trach kids. She is very clever and has learned to sign a few signs already, her favorite being milk and no. She is a real delight.

No Christmas gifts here. He will be under a year and oblivious at Christmas, and grandparents will surely go overboard so we are putting the money we would have spent into the college fund. In a few years it will be a different story, I'm sure.

I spent wayyyyy too much on a wooden play kitchen for her.
Also got her some DVDs to learn French (little pim) and a few little things (activity books, bath toys)

Cali, baby isn't even here and it's getting an Xmas present!! Just something to mark the occasion. A stocking, bauble for the tree and thinking a nice book I can write a little message in :) If I go late baby could technically come just after Xmas!!!!
