I had meconium in my fluid as well, and no effects from it. They didn't let her dad cut the cord and we didn't do immediate skin to skin, but they gave her to me in about 5 minutes.
Taqroy, we didn't do a weighted feed. Apparently they used to do them at the moms group(ran by my midwives) but decided that it was too stressful for the moms.
BUT! If she doesn't nurse, she drinks 4oz of formula. If she does nurse, she drinks .5-1oz. So I'm assuming she's getting about 3-3.5 oz.

Hey guys! Sorry I've been so absent... Getting used to a newborn sucks up your time. Anyways..
We did not successfully breastfeed. ): After a few appointments with a lactation consultant we determined that even though his latch was awesome, my nipple was too big for him to get enough of it in his mouth and get an adequate supply of milk. I was going to pump exclusively, but had to wait until over the weekend for WIC to give me one and ended up feeding him formula over the weekend because he was ridiculously hungry and not getting enough from me. He did really well on the formula, so we have decided to stick with it. It was a hard decision for me and I feel like I failed somewhere, but what matters is that he is healthy.
He is so big and strong and sweet and cuddly. Idk if all newborns are cuddly, but he certainly is. He's fallen into a rhythm of sleeping a lot and eating a lot, lol. Our first pediatrician appointment didn't go well, I hated the guy, so we are searching for a new one. Anyways, here's pics!

Ugh, when do they settle into a sleep routine that doesn't involve sleeping in increments of 2-3 hours? I'm exhausted. All. The. Time.
Also, Ryland has developed large amounts of mucous in his throat that have been causing him to choke and throw up while eating and sometimes he loses entire feelings. They mucous doesn't seem to be there until he starts to eat... I can't see his pedi until next week since I am out of state with him visiting family, but the doc recommended saline drops and suction as a temp fix. Haven't done it just yet, but do any of you have experience with this or could maybe guess what it is? Several people have suggested a cows milk allergy, but the doc doesn't want to switch formulas until he can see him. I know when I drink milk, I develop phlegm in the back of my throat... Is that something everyone gets, or did my son get it from me? It's just so hard to watch him spit up 3 ounces of milk and then be so hungry again, but also ready to sleep. Makes for a fussy baby and a hard day with a tired momma.

When Nico went through regularly throwing up parts or all of his meals we start to do mini meals instead of big feedings. THis helped him keep them down. he would normally feed for 10-15 minutes so we would let him feed for 4 or 5 minutes instead. Then wait 20 minutes and let him have another 4 to 5 minute feeding. At first he was not happy with having his meal interrupted but quickly adjusted to it. After a few days we would try allowing him a whole meal. If he kept it all down then we would allow a full meal the next time too until he did the same thing again and then we would switch back to the mini meals. Helped a ton.
As for the sleep my only suggestion is sleep every time he does. By the way he is a cutie.

It sounds like either an intolerance to his formula or maybe even reflux.
Their tummies are small and can only hold so much food which is why they eat so often. There will come a day when your baby sleeps through the night and you wake in a total panic thinking you didn't hear them, and then your body will be so used to sleeping in 2-4 hour increments that you will be exhausted all day from the full nights sleep....at least that was my experience with both of my kids!
Is he going right back down for you at night? I can't remember when, by I think our dr told us to stop middle of the night feeds at 6 weeks maybe....it's been a few years so my brain is rusty, but that is something I would ask your dr.
Also, to make sure his awake time is during the day instead of at night, try to keep him awake for 30 minutes after every daytime feeding so that he figures out daytime. I also, when it was still necessary to change them at night, changed them first, then fed them back to sleep.
