Well, as most of you know I've sadly had to rehome Rocky. But as much as I've been crying and missing the li'l guy, I think I did what's best.

I actually almost called today and asked for him back... but I know things won't get better if I did that.

I'm feeling better about the big blow that my heart took. Yesterday I cried so much that my eyes feel "dried up". I really, really miss Rocky.

But there's some good news, although it may be a little early and I may be jumping into things a little soon:

But there's this dog named Charlie. I've always had my eye on him on petfinder. Whenever Rocky was here and he was asleep or I had some free time, I'd sometimes browse petfinder. I've always been pretty fond of Charlie.

He's housetrained, 2 year old adult male, neutered, past his nipping stage. And from what I hear, extremely sweet. Seems perfect.

So anyway, I decided, why not give the foster parent an email. I did, and she emailed me back surprisingly quickly. Well, things went as they did and we talked for a while and I decided to send in an application.

She emailed me back saying that my application looked good. And I gave her my phone number to call me. She did, and we talked and talked. And I explained what happened to Rocky-- and she seemed to be pretty sympathetic and understanding about it. Very nice person.

So anyway, now it's to the point where she's going to call my vet for a reference and she's going to email me back with the results and after that, friday is a planned home-visit, with Charlie. If things work out then, then Charlie will be mine.

I will never forget about Rocky though. He's a Rock in my heart. The breeder said it was alright that I call periodically to check on Rocky and I plan on doing exactly that. And my dad said I could even go and visit him every once in a while. And most of all, I know he's in some pretty good hands.

I think that this could be good. I save a life, Charlie, and he helps me sort of... recover.

What do you think?

This is a picture of him:

He's a chocolate lab/pitbull mix.

I came across Hunter on Petfinder and saw he was at the Indy Humane Society. Didn't even have his pic posted. Just said yellow lab. Then the next day, his post was taken down. That's when I called the humane society and found that he was taken off the adoption floor due to stress and was scheduled to be PTS! He was picked up as a stray. That's when I kicked it into gear to rescue him thinking I'd just foster him until placing him. Well, as you know, the rest is history... :p

Wow... how nice of you! Hunter's so beautiful too. He looks so calm and mellow, I wanna give 'im a hug. :D
Yeah... the pic of him in my siggy is the epitomy of stress, huh?? These dogs just want a chance at life. Can't wait to take him on vacation. Grammy and Chip have never spent the night together in a hotel, either. Should be interesting when we must leave the "boyz" in the hotel room to go out for dinner! Probably some interesting stories coming up!

Awww, one of the most sweetest, kind and playful dogs I've ever had was a lab/pitbull mix too. Sounds to me like Charlie and my Buddy, that I no longer have, are just the same! I hope all goes well for you bigdog!

Charlie looks wonderful, DoggyDaddy. You can see a wise heart when you look in his eyes.

If you need a reference or if the foster mom wants to know about Rocky from an outside source you can give her my e-mail. Just tell her to use Rocky's name in the title so I'll know it's not spam.
