Yesterday I found a cat sitting outside my doorstep. I took her around to all the neighbors and no one recognized her... I put up signs on the two doors to the complex, but no one has called yet - it's been more than 24 hours, you'd think if your cat was missing you'd at least leave your apartment or check the doors for any Found signs.

She looks to be well cared for. She is in good weight, she's declawed, I'm guessing she's spayed based on her "spay belly" that most altered kitties seem to get), and she seems very friendly. Ronin is in a tizzy over her, so it's been a bit more stressful here since Miss Kitty has been here.

We have a few concerns, however.

1. She hasn't eaten anything since she got here. We've offered her Evangers 100% Rabbit (canned dog food, but it's pure rabbit so it's not like it could hurt her), Merrick's canned cat food, canned mackerel, and dry Fancy Feast (it was the only thing the store had tonight. The only thing she touched was the Fancy Feast, and only a few kibbles which she vomited back up.

2. She's only peed once or twice, no poop.

Is this cause for alarm? She's not our cat, so we don't want to rush her to the e-vet over this. Tomorrow I'm going to take her down to a vet clinic to have her scanned for a chip. If no one calls for her, I really don't know what to do - she's a gorgeous cat, but I *cannot* have a cat with Ronin in the house, his prey drive goes crazy around cats... he whines all the time.

I think she's a purebred Snowshoe, it's not every day you see a cat like this, with bright blue eyes:

my kitten i had a while back took a couple days before he started eating. so maybe it's just stress? if the cat doesn't eat after two or three days i'd be worried. of course if it's acting sick then yeah auto worry. but it's drinking and acting normal? i don't know tooo much about cats but that's what i'd think

I'm not sure if she's drinking much or not - cats are pretty secretive when it comes to stuff like that (in my experience).

She's acting okay - rolling around, exploring, wandering around, etc.

So I don't know, we'll probably just wait and see what's going on. I'm thinking it's just the stress of being in a new place and hearing a big scary dog whine all the time ;)

If nobody comes forth to claim her, give Ronin a few days to adjust to her presence.

The old roommates dog killed my neighbors cat, after living in this house with Erp. Verde has a high drive and wouldnt leave Erp alone, they have since adjusted, but Erp dosent take any crap and will even tease dogs.

I would try some wet cat food, maybe fancy feast wet. You never know, she may be spoiled rotten like my 2 kitties.

She is def. a cutie. Lookit that face!

Well, I left out that we also tried Friskie's wet and Science Diet wet... apparently that's what the SO bought her when I was at work.

I think she's just picky... ugh.

I think she might not be eating because of the stress of her new environment. I have a cat like that. I'd give her a chance to settle in a bit before getting too worried. My other cat won't eat in front of people. She only eats at night when everyone is asleep. So that could be the problem too. I'd also maybe put up some more signs around the neighborhood. She could have traveled a ways. Maybe check the Hy-Vee community board. I've noticed quite a few missing pet fliers on that. She's sure a beauty!

She's very pretty and looks VERY friendly. I would give the eating another day. She could be stressed. And cats don't eat unless they are hungry so she might have had herself a good meal already. What you don't want to do is wait too many days because if cats go without food, they are usually sick and more than a day or two can take its toll. But if looks from a pic is any indicator, I would bet she will be eating very soon. She sure doesn't look like she misses too many meals. lol. Get her some kitty junk food eg Fancy Feast, Sheba, etc. She may be used to eating that crap.

Ya know, she might fit in pretty well with your crew if you can't find the owner.;) A siamese is about as close to a dog as a cat gets.

Abu was the resident dog before I got Joey

He even plays fetch, lol!

Joey is one cute cat!
Thank you! That's Abu though. I named him after the monkey on Aladdin because he loves to ride around on my shoulder. He's such a sweety! He was also one very upset kitty when Joey joined the family. I think he's finally forgiven me though.:D

lol, awwww, you got presents! Abu usually ends up dropping his toys in his water dish. Then the die from the furry mice would change the color of the water, so I quite getting him those. Abu's prized fetching toy was a koosh ball. Unfortunately Joey ended up swallowing it and had to get it surgically removed from his stomach. So, no more koosh balls for Abu. No wonder he hates the dogs!

Erp named herself. I named Dana 300 after a transfer case, and Cineli and La Vi Clair where named after Tour De France teams.
